Hinge versus slide

I already bought 3 of the hinge type Deerview windows for a blind build. But I have not started yet and now I decided to make it larger, so I will be getting 3 more Deerviews. But I am considering getting 3 of the horizontal slide windows instead of the hinge, but the slides do cost more. Anybody out there that has experience with both with any recommendations of the slide versus the hinge type?

I like hinge windows because you have the whole window open. With all of the sliding windows I've used part of the window on the side you slide the glass to is blocked.

This...and typically the hinged ones are quieter

Had a slide window froze shut when hunting in Sterling County! sucks when you're trying to chisel ice on a window on opening morning.

Vertical slide over a horizontal slide if a sliding window. If not then hinge windows. All my blinds have the vertical slide windows now.

Thanks for the input. Another concern are bugs, especially keeping out wasps/yellowjackets. Any difference between the two in that area?

My slide windows were frozen shut on new years. I was able to finally get them open but they eventually froze shut again.

The blind is for my uncle's place down south, about 50 miles west of Corpus Christi. So freezes are few and far between over there. Still, hadn't thought of that freezing shut problem with the sliding type.

I am looking at Dearview windows right now and I believe their WEB site said on the 24x11.5 double sliding windows you could lift both panes out of the track to use the entire opening.

I have deer view hinged and love them! Sliders are too noisy and have ability to freeze up. If worried about bugs use some sticky sided foam sealing tape....

I have all hinge windows on my blinds and never had a problem with them. My hunting buddy has a fiberglas blind with sliding windows and they are a pain in the wazzo to get open/close.

It looks like more votes for the hinged than the sliders. Think I will stick with 3 more hinged, plus they are cheaper than the sliders. Thanks for the input.

Yes. All but one of our blinds now have horizontal sliding windows that you can easily take out if you want. My BIL likes to take them out, I don't. I slide them open to where I can see down the senderos/open areas/feeders good and the rest of the window is in front of the thick brush that you can't see anything in anyway. I've never had a problem with them being noisy unless you let the latches slip out of your fingers and they pop closed. I don't like to have all of the windows wide open normally, just more scent that can get out or cold air that can get in. Works for me where I hunt. If I was overlooking a big wide field I may want to take a window or two out. If windows get dirty a few paper towels does the trick. I've never tried the vertical sliding windows.
