Bushnell Trophy Cam issues

Bushnell Trophy Cam issues - 10/26/15 04:11 PM

I've got an 8 megapixel HD that won't delay at all between photos and a regular 6 megapixel model that is acting very screwy with the time stamp. The previous time I pulled the card from it, everything was okay, but this time it defaulted back to January 1st, 2014 and about 700 photos had that date, which clearly isn't right. It was clear that several days had passed between the first and last photo, but they all had the same date. And then the last 50 or so photos had dates going all the way into 2019. Anyone else run into either of these issues before? I'm going to do a reset back to factory default settings on the 6 megapixel model, reprogram the correct time and date, and hope for the best. Lithium batteries are about a year old, but the camera still shows them as having good life left. Think I should swap those out too?

I don't know what to do about the HD model. I've already done a reset on it. May just end up using it as a scouting camera as it takes way too many pictures when set over a feeder with the delay not functioning properly. Reset it last time to factory defaults and that didn't help at all.

I had similar issues with one. Even though the battery showed to be good, I replaced the batteries and it worked great after that.

I use to run about 50 Bushnell Trophy Cams a few years ago. Had issues so I called the company. We were told to only use SanDisk cards(which we weren't) once we switched our issues were taken care of. I have 4 of the newer ones on my place and use the SanDisk cards and don't have any issues and get great battery life. Might give a new card a try just to see if it helps.

I run 4 of these with mainly sandisk cards but do use a couple of off brand. Never one issue with the Bushnell's, surprised you are having issues.

Ihave one that works great for the most part but if batteries are getting weak it has caused mine to do some simular
stuff.

New batteries seem to always correct it.

SanDisk with the Bushnell. We've been running 4 for the last few years with no problems

I gave up on the Bushnell cameras 3 years ago. One would never stop taking pictures after the first time it was triggered,8 gb of nothing and drained batteries. Another had the lens come loose inside the camera.
I sent both units back to Bushnell to be repaired, and all Bushnell would offer to do was give me $30 off of two new cameras.
Really,I have already spent close to $400 on your products and then you want me to buy more of your junk. No Thanks,Just send my broke cameras back to me.I need some targets to shoot!

All Bushnell products are now on my No Buy list.

Same issue. We went with only 2GB SD cards, not 4. Don't use the SDHC cards. We also formatted the cards while plugged into the camera. This created a file to be read only by the Bushnell.. Since then no problem. I can run it on new batts well over 6 months. Hope this helps

SanDisk cards? I bought two of the Bushnells 2 years ago and gave up on them. 3300 pictures of nothing and batteries dead in 2 weeks instead of 6 months. Lithium batteries aren't cheap, either.
May have to give them one last try with SanDisk cards.

New batteries seem to have cured the time stamp/date problem. We'll see when I'm out there next weekend. It's unfortunate I can't get the other one to delay properly when something triggers the sensor. I may just put it up over the camp water trough.

I had some of the same issues with Bushnell. Will never buy another one.

Re: Bushnell Trophy Cam issues - 10/28/15 02:32 PM

it's not just the batteries,,, it's how they're secured

poor design of battery compartment with nothing to press down on the batteries

they're pretty loose and if you shut the cover hard they'll pop out
result in weak voltage = funky cam operations

cut a piece of thin foam to place between batteries and cover/door

use good batteries such as Duracell / Energizer... those RayOVac only last 1 week
