Rifle Rest for a Tri pod stand - 09/16/15 02:21 PM

anyone ever seen or know where i can find a rifle rest i can attach to the rail of my tri pod stand? i'm pretty decent free handed but it would be nice to have that stability for the longer shots.

Can you not just use the rail? All of the tripods I've hunted out of I just used the rail. We always added some of that foam insulation or a pool noodle to it.

Not sure if this could be rigged up somehow to your tripod. Since it's so long, you would almost have to mount it down somewhere by your feet but you wouldn't be able to move it around side to side.

Make it taller. Mount 2x4's on top of the current railing, on their side. If you need more height, carry a dog-eared sand bag up there with you.

One tripod or multiples? If just one, you might look at the Caldwell Deadshot Treepod.

Caldwell makes tree pods and stuff like that it's pretty good.

I don't know what happened to the outfit that sold The Knee Pod but I've used one for 15 years and it works very well. It kind of snaps over your leg ahead of your knee and is adjustable in height. I've used it sitting flat on the ground, on archery type tripods, and on stand like you describe. It seems the rails are always too low.

I googled it and didn't find much but some have been sold on ebay.
