GLOVES!?

I am in need of some really good cold weather gloves. The ones I bought for this year are junk! I can't feel anything and they do not keep my hands warm at all. They are Redhead brand from Basspro and the guy swore by them. I don't mind inserts and don't mind removing the gloves to shoot but if I can't feel my fingers or my hands are shaking it doesn't work. I tried on every pair in the store but unless it's cold how am I to know if they work so I figured I would ask for some field tested recommendations.

Good luck with the search for the right gloves. My favorites are nearly worn out and I cannot find anything as good. The old ones area heavy cotton fabric in camo and thin goatskin on the palm and gripping surface on the fingers. They aren't super warm, but are warm enough for me. They have great feel to them, and shooting with them is as good as shooting with no gloves. I have bought 4 or 5 pair of new gloves, and they aren't bad, but they aren't just what I want. So if anybody reading your post knows where I (and maybe you) can find gloves like I mentioned, I'd be a happy man.

Not trying to hijack your post, but to add my need also.

This may not apply to you as I am fairly cold tolerant, but I've liked waterfowl hunting gloves for really cold weather, especially neoprene which seem to be hard to find nowadays. I don't like real bulky gloves that get in the way of operating actions or reloading. Cabela's or Amazon have a large variety with customer ratings.

Also, I've never had much luck with Redhead brand but I have with Cabela's brand. May must be me...

You need fingerless gloves with a flip open area to get your fingers out when you need them. Or water foul gloves.

I use the leather work glove with the thinsulate and padded lining. I think the ones I have now are Carharts, but there are a few different brands of quality leather gloves with linings. Always have kept my hands the warmest and allowed me to stay somewhat functional when wearing them.

This would let your fingers share their warmth and would be nice for you.

I just ordered some Sitka Delta Decoy gloves. Hopefully they will be warm and can pull double duty for me in the tree stand of needed.

I also have a pair of Redhead Gore-tex gloves. They work okay for me until it gets below 30. Then they are useless unless they have a hand warmer in them.

Get Poly glove liners and wear Wool gloves over them. Hands will stay toasty

Kinco deerskin gloves with Heatkeep insulation. I have a drawer full of winter gloves, these are the best I've ever owned.

With good leather gloves to top it off. The best gloves I ever had were USAF pilot gear, wool liners with a leather glove, to that I added silk glove liners. Silk was the choice before polypropylene was invented.

These will keep you warm but you'll have to remove them to shoot.

I generally just wear the cheap cotton gloves with the rubber dots. Then, keep my hands in a muff when I' sitting still.

I tried wearing rubber nurse gloves under my regular gloves or with the muff. That seemed to be the answer until nature called. Those thin rubber gloves also hold the cold in pretty nicely.

I've learned to put a small thermal-heat pack (the air activate ones) inside glove on BACK side of hand;
the warmed hand artery blood will then circulate the heat nicely to the fingers, keeping them toasty and comfortable;
and the heat-pack is on back side of hand, out of the way of your grip, etc.
Works every time, with ANY gloves I have (as long as they are dry).
Plus, if it's really cold (or you are old), just use a medium-sized heat-pak. perfect!

I have a pair of gloves that has a small pocket on the back side that you can insert a heat pack and they are dang warm without the pack in...sorry OP, have no clue what brand they are.
