bushnell bone collector 8mp game cam - 05/02/11 11:46 PM

Did a search and didn't really find anything on this camera. Was looking at one in the store today, anybody using one with a review of them ?

Looked like a good camera but I've got a question. The bragging on the box says battery life could be as long as one year, using 4-AA or 8-AA ...... What's the deal with using either 4 or 8 batteries, and if anyone is using one, what kind of real-time battery life are you seeing ?

Piece of junk! Got one I will sell you for 1/2 price and I will throw in a bridge.
Worst game cam of all I have bought. Eveny day picture is a white out. It has been replaced twice under warrenty and every one they send me does the same thing.
BONE COLLECTOR? The only thing they are collecting is your money.

Great info twinbubba, you just saved me buying a headache..... Thanks !!! I've got a Primos truthcam 35 that "claims" to have a 40' IR flash.... I'm thinking they'd have been closer to the mark advertising 20'..... Just saw the bone collector which claimed 50' and very little battery draw...... Thanks again for the save !!!

The IR flash on the Bone Col. may be half that. I know there are some people that rave about the Bushnell but I have bought 2 of them and both have been in the shop multiple times. I wish I could give you a good recommendation but I have owned Stealth CAM, Moultree and Bushnell and the Stealth CAM has been the best but it isn't great.
The first Bushnell I had replaced once is doing prettyh good now but the Bone Col. has been a total bust.
I am thinking about trying the Stealth UNIT next time. Same size as the Bushnell, uses AA batteries like the Bushnell, $50 cheaper than the Bushnell and one feature I like about it that the Bushnell does not have is an external LCD that tells you how many pictures it has taken without having to open the camera case.

I got two of the bushnell game cameras. 5mp not the 8mp. Both have gone back to shop once, easy to return and got a new camera back. One the housing was broken and the other got water into it after a rat ate part of it. They batteries last a very long time. Not a year but almost 9 months. I am getting almost 2000 pics a month with them. I run 8 AA is both. They take great pics. So far I am happy with them, not sure if they are worth the extra money. Stay way from the Bone Collector model, you are just paying an extra few $$ for a name that doesnt mean anything. Plus I dont like him. I also have 5 of the IR4 by wildgame. For the money they are great. I am picking up a Stealth Cam this weekend to round out my cameras at 8. Let you know in a few months how I like it.

I bought one 8mp Bushnell Trophy Cam last September to try it out. I had 7 others that were already out taking pictures. It was by far my most reliable camera all season long. It would occasionally have a whiteout, but for the most part had high quality pics and took more pics with better quality then my Moultries, Wildgame Innovations and Cuddeback. I ended up buying 3 more after the season to see what bucks made it through the season. The original one was still showing 90% battery life and has taken probably 10,000 - 12,000 pictures. I used 8 of the Lithium Ion batteries. They are more expensive, but I have no doubt it will last 1 year on the same batteries. Its still taking pictures on protein feeders right now.

I have two and they have been awesome. Best I've bought in years. Battery life is incredible. I used to run external battery packs but it isn't worth the trouble with these, they last forever with regular batteries.

I would just buy the regular green one tho, don't pay extra for a bone collector sticker.

I have 4 out right now and they are great, have yet to replace the batteries in any of them and they have all been out continuously since September. I will be buying more soon.
