MR2000 and 185 Jugs in .308

Itching to try the 185 Jugs in the .308 for the first time. I never used MR2000 before and does anyone have any good results with that powder in the .308? Any loads you like to share, of course I'll work up. I know Varget is my go to powder, just thought that MR2000 will work nice with the heavies.

Reduce your charge from the 175 about 1 to 1.5 grains, and that should be your max with a 185 grain. Good choices on components!!!

It's what I was thinking earlier but used the 190 grains off Nosler website, gonna try a ladder test from 44.5 to 47.5 grains.

You go it. You are on the right track. 2000MR was one of the powders I use in my 308 to get some extra speed over Varget. I knew the powder engineer that created this powder at St Marks for Alliant. We talked about this powder and it's uses, and it was a good one for heavy bullet applications in 223 and 308. It's also more temp stable than Varget with the newer coatings they put on it.

Never really seen this. Looks interesting. More velocity and temp stable then varget. Any down sides? Suppose you are going to tell me it meters better...

It is a much smaller kernel and can easily run in a progressive press, if needed. It does meter great!

Serveral FClass shooters I have talked with gave it a run for a while and it does get you a bump in velocity but not quite as consistent as H4895 or Varget so they switched back. Should do fine for heavies in 308

Yes, I agree. It's a good powder for picking up speeds. It shot good in my 28" barrel. But I never got the true warm and fuzzies for great accuracy. It seemed to not want to shoot as good. But it hauled the mail!

You are correct, it meters within .4 of a grain each time on the Chargemaster, evened it out on the FX120. 45 to 47.2 grains, let's see what results are soon at 200 yards round robin style.
