+1 on SG Ammo. Have also used Sportsman's Guide. No problem with either.

Ammoseek.com is a search engine that works great. Sgammo is good too.

Mil spec or general bulk ammo?

Chad at Dallas reloads does some “bulk”, but I find his quality to be higher than others.

Re: mail order bulk ammo - 10/02/17 05:03 PM

Cleric, mil spec would be nice, but general bulk is also a consideration with the right manufacturer, the issue i have is no private land to shoot on and the ranges i visit do not allow fmj rifle ammo, so i was looking for sp or hp rounds. i have been kicking around reloading but i figured a bulk ammo buy would be good for now. i don't really hunt anymore but still enjoy a day at the range

with all the ammo dealers i see on line, i was skeptical on who to use

thank's all, i really appreciate the input

Thanks, Cleric!

OP- First, what caliber are you looking for? One of my main sellers is my bulk 308 and 300 blk out ammo. I can load 223, but prefer not to. And what bullet are you looking for in that caliber?

Here's some links to my 308 and 300 blk out

Re: mail order bulk ammo - 10/02/17 07:07 PM

No prob Chad you make good ammo- based on my experience

The problem with bulk anmo... need to define what you want to do. If you want to just throw some lead at a 100 yard range in 223. Pick a reloader and get a lighter (cheaper bullet) and buy enough if one sitting to last you as batch to batch variation can be a factor

If you want something to shoot out some distance or want some precision find a more reputable reloaded. I have heard sg ammo, freedom munitions, etc name thrown around but have no experience. But I tend to try and support local so for my bulk 300bo I use Chad

I have a bunch of components for a 223 load laying around that I need to make but haven't frown

ChadTRG42, i'm looking for 223 and 308, i'm just slinging lead with the 223 and have been shooting 1 moa at 100yrds with 55g american eagle ammo out of an ar with 1-9 twist. i shoot both an ar and bolt gun with 1-10 twist in 308, i would like to get a little precision out of this caliber and carry it on out there. looking at 1000 rounds in 223 and 500 rounds in 308 , both in sp or hp

thank you

Re: mail order bulk ammo - 10/02/17 10:08 PM

The 308 Win I have available. I can load pretty much any bullet you want. Bulk ammo runs about $82-$85 per 100 rounds.

For 223, I can load up 500 rounds for about $200 per 500 rounds. Brass is once fired brass, CCI #450 primer, match grade ball powder, and bullet of your choice. Bullet options would be:

55 grain Hornady SP
52 grain Nosler HP
68 grain Hornady BTHP

Re: mail order bulk ammo - 10/03/17 01:29 AM

Chad sold me some bulk 223. It shot ok until I sorted for brass brand, and then it was lights out (although I think this issue is somewhat specific to my rifle). I have since got into reloading myself and he has been a big help. I don't think you'll find better quality ammo for the money out there, especially his "bulk" ammo loaded on a progressive press with good components. I'd go with the 55 SP since the 55 FMJ is shooting so well right now, but I doubt any of those 3 bullets would shoot poorly in a 1:9.

I've seen many good reports of MOA or better accuracy on his bulk 308 as well.

Re: mail order bulk ammo - 10/04/17 06:24 PM

chadtrg42, 223, been eyeballing those 500 rounds with the 68g bthp, will this be a better bullet for longer distance out of a 1:9 twist than the 55g sp ???
Posted By: ChadTRG42

Re: mail order bulk ammo - 10/04/17 06:34 PM

Yes, 100%. I shot the 68 grain Hornady BTHP bullet in multiple competitions. I have taken it out to 800 yards in competition. The 55 grain SP starts out fast, but with the light weight 55 grain bullet and low BC, it loses velocity very rapidly, which increases your drop and with a lot more wind drift than the 68 grain. If 80%-90% of your shooting will be done inside of 200 yards, the 55 grain SP is a decent choice. But the 68 grain will begin to perform better at the longer ranges since it has a much higher BC. My AR was a 1:9" twist also, when I shot the 68 grain bullet.

A lot of good recommendations. My last 2 bulk order have been with Bone Frog Gun club. They have been excellent.

223 Gold Dots are cheapest I've seen at $11 a box and they are the only place I've found that has Federal MK318 Mod 0 ammunition.
