Nickel plated brass?

I have once fired nickel plated brass from the hog hammers, can I use these too reload or are they a one time brass like the steel cased stuff? New to reloading thanks guys !

I've reloaded them without issue but I've heard some on here say to watch for the flaking nickel, it'll scratch your dies. All my nickel reloads were 38/357

Unless you have 100 or more, I'd trash them. Flaking, scratching dies, too brittle ..... way too many variables.

Will carbide dies scratch as well?

Ill keep the nickel for pistol cases only.

Yes, you can reload the nickel cases, but watch for the flaking. Also, the nickel coating adds more material to the brass case, making it thicker with less internal case capacity. So reduce your charge slightly to account for this.

I heard horror stories about reloading nickel brass.
I heard plenty of Load it & Shoot it.

I decided to put them to a serious test.

I wanted to ID my 300Blk Sub's... make them stand out.

I took once fired .223 Winchester Nickel cases and made 300Blk cases.

I chopped them.
Deburred them.
Annealed them.
Sized them.
Trimmed them.
Deburred them.
Loaded them.

As of three reloadings so far, I have not had any issues with flaking etc etc etc

I have since been keeping and reloading all sorts of nickel plated pistol brass.

As with any brass used, case inspection is necessary. Nickel or Bare Brass.

I've felt a difference with some nickel plated handgun brass when trimming. I thought the nickeled brass seemed tougher and more difficult to trim. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Yes, Nickel is a tougher material.
Once you get past the first trimming, it pretty much feels "normal" after that.

I can't tell you how many thousands of rounds of nickel plated cases I've loaded. Never had an issue, although it does seem to split case mouths faster.
