which 223 ammo? - 10/29/16 05:12 PM
I was looking online for a new round to keep in my ranch truck - COLT AR15 with 4X32 ACOG. Has to be something tough for hogs or occasional nilgai (I will not shoot a large bull with a .223, just average cow or small bull) . I was going to order some federal 62gr trophy bonded tips. But then I saw the federal 64 power sock soft point has good reviews with deer hunters. I also think its weird that federal has the velocity listed higher for the 64gr less efficient bullet.

I'd recommend Nosler Partitions. Midway is currently out of stock, but they may be available elsewhere ....

Federal Fusion or Federal MSR 62 grain pretty much the same. Cheap and accurate.
I really like the performance of the 115gr Fusion 6.8, so I bought a box of the .223 62 gr Fusion non-MSR. My Rock River will put five under a quarter at 100 yds. I have not shot a deer with it yet.
