140 gr Matchking, 6.5 Creedmoor, could you kill deer sized animals with it??? with confidence??? Texas deer...

I did a search, couldn't find anything under match King. I know its been beat to death.......but would appreciate anyone who has successfully killed deer sized game with it.

I have one rifle that REALLY shoots good with this bullet. I also have all the hunting bullets, just concerned with the SMK

Match bullets as a rule don't expand. You're going to punch a pencil-sized channel through whatever you shoot with it. SMKs have very thin jackets but aren't a hunting bullet by any stretch of the imagination.

Anything works when placed properly.

Yep. You can kill an elk with a 17HMR but that doesn't make it SMART.

The 175 SMK / 308 Win has worked well for me, as well as the 308 - 125 SMK. Have not used the 6.5's, but make sure the impact velocity is 2000 fps or higher; more is better.

Bit of other first hand experience from using a 260 for deer and pigs.

In the 260, Barnes 100 TTSX at 3080 has turned in all DRT''s. Longest shot has been 212 yards off of a pack. It is really pleasant to shoot too.

Have some 100 gr Partitions loaded up at 3200 fps, which I will try this week.

The 6.5 CM should hit similar velocities.

Tried 120 gr NBT and TTSX's, but the higher velocities with the 100's really improved terminal results.

Use high shoulder shot placement with all of them.
