Suggestions for 12 gauge Shells that shoot well in Remington Sportsman 58. - 08/23/16 08:18 PM

Hello,

Does anyone have suggestions on 12 gauge shells for dove hunting that will properly cycle a sportsman 58? I have had issues with typical dove loads in the past so I always resort to my 870 super magnum express. I would really like to shoot the sportsman 58 this year as its such a nice gun and it was my great grandpas. I have cleaned the gas system and everything. I know to adjust the knob on the end of the gas system to heavy or light loads.

I bought a case of Rio Game Loads yesterday at Academy. We will see how they feed. If not I will use them in my 870 lol.

I've had bad luck with both rio and estate shells. Have you tried winchester AA?

No I have not. I have always just kinda bought whatever dove loads are priced the best at the beginning of the season, typically Remington sure shot or one of the 100pk of shells at Walmart. From everything I have read, the Rio shells are much better than those. We shall see!
