never done it before
no hassle, split a good order with 2 guys and haz mat was only $7 each
I like to use my LGS but dang guys, $29 for a lb of powder and $40 for primers?
I know they have to make money, but I bought primers for $27 and Titegroup poweder for $18 and I'm paying retail online prices

The last powder I purchased was online. Prices, like Sparky noted, were less - a lot less. Ended up purchasing 32# of powder overall. With shipping and hazmat I was still $2/lb less than local.

Got a 8 pound jug for $20 less. Good outlet.

After I spent $40 on a pound of w296 in San Angelo, I decided I would only order online from here on out. If I bought two pounds, I'd be breaking even even after paying hazmat and shipping. Add 1k primers, and I'm saving money.

my group though about going to a local shop and tell them we were placing a huge order and would they match the price, but we just figured, why bother

I used to buy alot of primers and powder from the gun shows BUT after the "Great Primer Scare" a few years ago the gun shows dried up on reloading supplies or the vendors asked three times what it was worth and I quit going.
I visit the local gun store now and buy my powders,( I paid 164.00 for 8 pounds of IMR4831 last week ) but their selection of primers is very poor.
My question is when you order online for powder and primers do you sign for package when it arrives or do they leave it at door step?

I had to click a box stating that someone was going to be home to sign for the package

that means nothing to most UPS drivers though. I had $1600 in Prepaid Visa gift cards I had coming around Christmas one year and they were supposed to be signed for too, but UPS left them in the doorway of the house next door that had been vacant for a year
I only figured it out when I got the alert that it had been delivered and it wasn't at my house, so I started looking at my neighbors and found the package

A last year I bought an 8 lb jug of Varget from local supplier, who during the shortage manage to get powder and primers to trickle in and sent emails to let people know what came in. That jug of Varget cost 240.00. This year I purchased on line 1-8 lb jug of CFE223 and 4 - 1 lb bottles of R17 with hazmat and freight total was not much more than the Varget purchased previously.

The cause of the high prices is OBAMA, their basically trying to put all gun and ammunition businesses out of business. A new straight off the top tax of 2500 a year if you have a business that sales guns no matter if you only log in one gun on the books you will be taxed 2500$. That's just to name one, there are some more ridiculous taxes the hammer us with and then everyone is buying as much as they can afford which creates more demand and more tax on the supplier.
