.45 ACP Primer Pockets - 07/26/16 12:26 AM

So I went to load a few rounds of .45 and when I tried to insert the primer it would not go...so I checked the primer pocket to see if perhaps something was messed up with the case only to find the primer pocket was small and not large. I did some research and found out why. I really don't care whether it's large or small as long as the performance is the same. So that's the question I'm asking you guys...how's the performance with the small primer vs the large primer? What about using small magnum primers?

Thanks,

What does your manual recommend?

The last run of 45 ammo I did was all small primer pocket brass. It works fine. It doesn't seem to matter which one, just as long as they are not mixed. If you run the magnum primers, just reduce your load a little. I ran the standard CCI small pistol primers.

I've chronographed identical loads in LP and SP. Practically identical.

Pays to double check while working brass. Found a bunch of sp in a recent batch. I haven't loaded them yet but sure get frustrated when I crush an lp. At that point I look in the mirror and move on.
