.45 ACP accuracy loads??? - 03/01/16 11:53 PM

Anyone shoot for accuracy anymore? Seems like everyone is into shooting as many rounds as they can as fast as they can........and not hit anything.

I need some PET loads .45 ACP 185 and 200 grain. Going for ACCURACY, 25-50 yards like in the old days. 5" 1911

please??

I do. I handgun hunt and load on a single stage press.

My pet load for the ACP is 230 gr ball with win 231 powder. Right around 5 grains of powder is the sweet spot. I never shoot the lighter bullets.

My .44's love Win 296.

Titegroup and a 180gr nosler custom comp jhp have produced very accurate results in all but one 1911 i have. Cant remember what exact charge is but it was upper 1/3 of the load range.

200 gr Hornady XTP
5.2 Titegroup
Fed Large Pistol primer

185 Nosler Comp
5.6 Titegroup
Fed Large Pistol

Seating depth makes a difference just as it does in a rifle.

Any details on the bullet and primer?

Please indicate whether loads are with large or small primers since 45 ACP brass comes in both forms.

Not a single person, so far, has said that they used Unique as their powder of choice. I use it for both my hand guns and my carbine in 45ACP; with large primers. Years ago, Unique was a pretty dirty powder, but they seem to have changed the formula to where the new stuff runs just as clean as some of the others I've tried. I also use Unique when I build by snake shot rounds for my 45 Colt.
My second choice is another "old" powder: Bullseye. Me thinks I'm out of the mainstream here. . .

Berry's .452 FMJ using Titegroup at 4.4grs works good for me, out of XD45 5"

The brass was mixed with Winchester Lg pistol primer

185/200gr lead semi wad cutter. Not sure who made them.
