http://www.hodgdon.com/

The website is holding thousands of pieces of data to tell us where to start a powder charge, as well as max powder charge for thousands of combinations of cartridges, bullet weights, and a variety of powders for each cartridge.

I use it a lot. When I'm home and reloading, that is.

Is there a change in the website or something new I don't see?

No. All the time people are asking about start and max charges for common powders, common cartridges, and common bullet weights. All the answers they need are right there on Hodgdon's website. This thread was directed more toward new hand loaders that may not have known about Hodgson's site.

Well done kmon1 and DStroud!

If this doesn't become a sticky, we'll just have to keep bumping it.

Already thought of thought of that. We have a technical reference links sticky. Will add it to that once we have full links listed. Most of those are in the tips and tricks thread already.

That is my favorite reply for those threads. I started a thread awhile back that basically said what you said. Apparently it didn't take root.

Yea, it shows max charges...

Seems like I start my loads above some of their max charges now.

I remember when I went to your range with the starting charges, lol.

Re: http://www.hodgdon.com/ - 02/03/16 06:43 PM

It's a good idea to look at bullet manufacturer's sites too.

For instance, Hodgdon's only load for .224 75 grain uses a VLD bullet which lessens the amount of powder you can get in the case compared to an A-max.

Another trick I've found is to google reloading manual data of the bullet you want, then search images. People post screenshots of their manuals.

Here are some links I have discovered over the years. It's best to remember that some of these sites allow users to post loads and that some people are plain crazy. If nothing else, it's interesting. Some of these links DO give you published data, though.

It’s a valiant effort but within a month someone will ask for load data on a common round.

They own several other powders, like IMR and Winchester. With the way Australia is going will we ever see any from there again and several Hodgdon powders are made there.
