6.5 Creedmoor Load Performance Confirmed - 12/11/15 02:37 AM
Several of you chimed in and helped me develop a load for my 6.5 Creedmoor. I have been anxious to give it a try, and I finally got my chance last weekend.
After stalking this buck about 2 hours, he finally gave me an 80 yard broadside shot just before he slipped into a thicket. The shot was half way up the body straight up the front leg - at the shot, the buck humped up, tip-toed about 5 yards forward, stood for a second, then fell over dead.
The 130 Berger VLD-H went just over his heart and destroyed the front 1/2 of both lungs. The bullet was found just under the skin of the off-side shoulder - a flattened mushroom. I haven't had a chance to weigh it yet, but weight retention was decent.
The antlers aren't much, but the 5.5 year old buck was BIG bodied. We didn't have any scales, but for reference I am 6'2" - 250.
I may end up falling in love with the CM!!!
