I need a new 300 win mag load

I need a new 300 win mag load - 10/31/15 12:46 AM

Ok, so I I have real nice load work up for my 300 win mag shooting 1/4 moa but this is with a 180 Nosler Accubond bullet.
I am wanting to change and go as large of a grain projectile as possible for a new load work up. No weird bullet brands that I can't find. Needs to have the best BC but not a target bullet. In other words a dual purpose projectile if there is one. Any suggestions?
Current workup:
Nosler Accubond 180 grain
IMR 4831 70.7 grains
24" barrel
1 in 10 twist

My 300 win mag is my toy. Dual purpose gun. I target shoot long range 500 to 1000 yards but I have fun with hogs too so the projectile needs to be a hunting round as well.

First off if its shooting all groups that measure .250 then I would never change. If you did though I would probably wait for the new Hornady LR hunting bullets to hit the shelves later in December.

This info is worth reading IMO.

I have ladder tested the 210 Berger VLD in a friend's .300 Win Mag. Still have to group shoot it.

Federal 215M
H-1000

Looks like +/- 77.0 gr is where his is going to shoot.

Check the BC on that 210, it is a hoss of a bullet!

Yes, all groups are in the range of .25 to .375. Of course if you factor cold bore and hot barrel it does open up to average of .50 moa.

Went ahead an pre-ordered ELD's from Midway, 220 grain. We will see what happens.
