Shooting pulled bullets

Shooting pulled bullets - 08/11/15 03:11 AM

This might be a bit premature, since I'll do some shooting again tomorrow, but after I worked up a good 223 load for the 40 gr Nosler BT's I loaded up some pulled bullets. I wanted to see how accuracy compared between the unblemished new bullets and the pulled ones with minor ring imprints from the collet puller. So far, the POI seems to be the same. Group sizes are a bit larger with the pulled bullets, though my grandkids won't care when they are blowing up water bottles, balloons, and such.

I'll go at it with a cold bore tomorrow, for better data. This new barrel, when it heats up, won't shoot the tight groups. When shot cold however, I did put 3 into 3/8 inch.

This isn't the Tikka I was asking about earlier in the week. This is my Ruger Hawkeye with the new barrel. It shows promise.

To summarize, the pulled bullets shoot just fine. About the same group size.
