I would also recommend Ramball36 for a very well built portable bench where the legs are removed and stored under the table. Below are a few pics of mine at the ranch.

start with the old style "workmate by black&decker) attach a 3/4 pc of plywood cut to your liking. its portable and folds up to store easy, comes in handy for lots of different use's. pm me if you want pics
