Variances in C.O.A.L?

Variances in C.O.A.L? - 01/04/15 01:27 AM

I have a stockpile of .270 bullets that I'm reloading. Hornady Interlock & SST's, Nosler BT & Accubond's, & Sierra Gamekings. All 130 gr. I made a dummy round for each bullet type and was surprised by the differences in COAL. Is it common to find variances of 0.125" from one bullet type to the other? Or am I doing something wrong making my dummy rounds?

Get a bullet comparator, remeasure, and see what you see.

O.A.L. will vary from one bullet brand and weight to another. But when you are measuring to the ogive you will see more consistent numbers.

Thanks, I'll look into it.
