Redding or RCBS - 11/27/14 04:17 PM
I am just wondering which dies you guys prefer? Do you think Redding is worth the extra cost?

Re: Redding or RCBS - 11/27/14 06:53 PM
I have equal number of both. When I needed .260 Rem, there were no Redding in stock, so I got RCBS. When I needed dies for the 7 Rem Mag I got Redding Custom Competition. The 6.5 Creedmoor is Hornady dies. I also have a few Lee sets.
Can't get the micrometer on the Redding Custom Competition to zero...

I have had to call RCBS twice and both times I sat on hold for 20 minutes but when I got to speak to a person they solved my problem and didn't charge me a thing. Parts arrived a few days later.

I like Hornady and Redding dies. I like the ease of the Hornady dies adjustments and the tear drop shaped expander ball. I like Redding for the die options. I order RCBS only when I have to. I HATE the screw driver and pliers or wrench needed to make the adjustments.

Hornady seating die with the floating sleeve to help with bullet alignment, micrometer adjustment for seating depth can be added for a bit over $20.00. Hard to beat for the money.

Ok 6.5 Creedmoor Hornady or Redding?

Re: Redding or RCBS - 11/28/14 02:23 PM
I have both. Both are the higher priced Comp/match bushing dies. Both work. Hornady is a FL and normally gives lower runout

Hard to beat the price of Hornady Match Grade New Demention two die set for the 6.5 Creedmoor. Don't forget to get the bushing to go with it.

I like Redding over RCBS too, but when they're available, I actually prefer Forster's Benchrest Seater, so I own almost as many Forster die sets as Redding and RCBS. I have a few Hornady sets as well; they work fine except when you are seating a bullet over a compressed load of powder. Then the Hornady seater leaves an unsightly ring mark on the ogive of the bullet, at least IME.
And I have a Lee Collett die for most of the cartridges I load for. And of course, shoulder bump dies. And on and on....

Redding or Forster have worked best for me.

Have and use a lot of different manufactures dies
C&H, Lee, Redding, Lyman, RCBS, Hornady, Forster, Herters
Prefer Redding and Forster dies and the Lee Collett Dies

I don't think I'm a precision skilled enough reloader to notice
the difference between Redding and RCBS in my final product. I
can imagine that having a Mic adjustment dial would be helpful
when loading multiple bullets for the same caliber. On calibers
where I've settled into one bullet, maybe not as useful. RCBS
also makes higher-end dies with the Mic, but if I was looking in
that price bracket, I'd likely go Redding just because.

I use RCBS dies on RCBS and Dillon machines. No problem.

Lee collet dies and Redding Body Dies for case and neck sizing. Fancy seating dies from Redding and RCBS. Probably more precision than I need.

Re: Redding or RCBS - 12/03/14 12:25 AM
I've started using Whidden dies and Wilson seaters. I like Redding probably 2nd best.
For the money it is dang hard to beat a set of Hornady Match dies...they do a great job and are 1/2 the cost of the others. I'm personally not a fan of the rubber oring or the floating primer pin but they do put out straight ammo.

So with the collet dies, how much less do you have to trim? Basically not at all? Or just somewhat less often?
