1 out of 80 arrows 1ft high at 20 yard5

1 out of 80 arrows 1ft high at 20 yard5 - 05/24/18 02:16 AM

Any thoughts on the following?

Halon 32, 6 inch brace 30 inch draw at 70lbs. QAD rest... variety of Carter releases

30 inch Easton axis brass inserts (540 grains total weight with 100 gr heads) at about 275fps.

I can put 20 arrows in a row inside a snuff can (3 inches) at 20 yards. Not 1 arrow is outside the 3 inch ring except...

About every 80 arrows or so... one arrow will land 1 ft high (often missing the target).

Any idea what is going on? I am 100 percent sure there is no vane to cable contact. I switched to 4 fletch tiny AAE promax because I thought I may be hitting the QAD rest or the cables... but i dont think this is the case.

Should have said more about the arrows... 260 spine axis with 50 grains brass (certainly not underspined).

The above problem happens with field points.

That far off at that close is you mostly likely moving anchor point or just getting target panic.

If your rest is sticking it will eventually stick more until it seizes up. That would be other option but also it’s the most unlikely.

Sounds more shooter induced

Thanks bobo, I never had this problem with my trg7. And I'm usually really good about calling where my shots are going.

Anyone have additional thoughts? I shot the house twice this month and those big 550 grain arrows cracked the brick last time it happened!

Have you marked each arrow? Is it the same arrow? Guessing it is not mechanical because it happens rarely. Is it form or muscle fatigue after 80 arrows?

Agree with the others, sounds like something being done on the occasional shot that is ot being done on the others. Had one customer one time that I saw doing something like that but he was using the wrong pin on the sight occasionally.

Not sure how long you have been shooting but a trip back to basics
Grip - the bow the same way every time Torque can cause different points impact on target
Draw - the same way every time helps hit same anchor point with same feel
Anchor - Bow setup properly so you can easily anchor the exact same every time
sights get the same sight picture every time. The peep circle and front sight circle are easy to align then put pin on what to hit, not just put the pin there but put it on the target the same every time
release - squeeze the trigger the same every time just like on a rifle
follow through - Same actions post shot every time

Do not over practice, if feeling fatigued back off and rest a little, when you start getting tired little things creep into form errors.

Ha well you can count out arrow issue, since they died. I feel your pain, I have brick wall also. Two posts a 2x4 header and a tractor supply stall mat.

I've been shooting for 9 months.

Maybe I am using the wrong pin!! I didn't even think of that.bang Whenever it happens, it is always dead on left and right, and 1 ft high (never left, never right, never low and always 1ft from center). When I'm at the 3D range - I use the bottom pin and move the wheel to the exact yardage (Hog Father). When I'm shooting at home I use the top pin. My top pin is 20, middle pin 30 and bottom pin 40. I bet that pin gap from 20 to 40 (at 20 yards) is 1ft exactly. I'll check this tonight.

It is definitely a different arrow each time (they shatter when they hit the bricks).

Thanks !!

I just don't shoot toward my house and use a bigger target
