Fixed my HHA Optimizer Crossbow Speed Dial sight tape with Glow Tape. - 11/11/17 05:02 AM
I have the HHA Optimizer Speed Dial for my Mission MXB-360 crossbow and the thing is awesome. But when I am hunting in low light, I can't see the numbers on the yardage tape. The deer come out on 4 different trails to the left of my blind set up so it's not like I can just leave it set at a certain yardage. So I use Glow-On super phosphorescent paint on handgun sights in my Gunsmithing shop but I am out of it right now. But they also make an adhesive backed glow in the dark film that's waterproof and I found an old sheet of it laying around in my shop. So I cut some strips and added it to the wheel to see how it would work last time I went out to hunt. The stuff works really well and stays bright for a very long time. Their paint shines brighter than tritium night sights and I add it to customers sights for free if they want to try it out. The pieces I put on moved around, fell off and left adhesive on the wheel so I am going to remove the adhesive, cut really thin lines of it with a razor blade and glue them on with Zap-A-Gap. I tried using a red light but it didn't pick up some of the numbers on the yardage tape so this glow in the dark stuff is the best option to fix it. I will be ordering more of their paint and will probably paint the needle and make hash marks in different colors to the right of the yardage tape later on. Just a simple fix that I wanted to pass along to anybody out there using a single pin bow sight or the crossbow speed dial while hunting.
