Quality of factory strings

I have a Quest Primal that is at least 7 years old. It shoots lights out and is paper tuned. I wouldn't mess with anything except it still has the original strings and they are getting fuzzy. I shot in a couple leagues and have practiced and hunted a lot so it has been shot a lot. Time for new strings.

Question, I happen to have a set of new factory strings for the bow and I am all about saving money when I can. Is it worth it to buy upgraded strings or are the factory strings on Quest's top of the line bow good enough? I'm not worried about longevity since the current set lasted this long. I just am worried factory strings will be more prone to stretch and require more tuning etc. What do yall think?

Stick with free factory strings or pay $$$ for aftermarket strings?

If the factory sthings have served you well why not go with what works?

Plus if you have a lifetime warranty you don't want to compromise that.

That's what I'm thinking too. Just making sure there hasn't been some great technological break through in strings in the last decade. Hahahah

I know they have great customer service but I didn't remember the lifetime warranty. Good point.

7 years on factory string? Lucky, you haven't busted a lip.

I got 10 off my old hoyt and then 7 on my black ice before I changed it and the cam... it was dry fired the day I got it and must have damaged the cam.. took it in on the 7 year mark and they said please do not shoot this again until we get a cam lol

I sold a 2000 model PSE to a friend of mine years ago and told him it still had the original string on it and he is still shooting it to this day. No fat lip yet.

Wax your string religiously. Store your bow properly in a climate controlled environment. Check cams, wheels, rollers and guides regularly for dirt and burrs. Do this and you can get many years out of a string if you are an average shooter.

That said if you shoot a few times per week I suggest a new one every couple of years. Not for the fat lip factor, although that is something we all want to avoid, but because it wears inside more than on the outside. Stretch, and torque need to be addressed.
