Time to get serious.

Time to get serious. - 11/24/16 10:55 PM

I've hunted at the lease two weekends with my Hoyt. One evening and one morning set at my ranch with my recurve. A week in Missouri with no shot presented. So far a doe and a pig have fallen to the Hoyt. Tonight I leave to my ranch and will only take the recurve. We have a work weekend planned but I will get at least a couple of hunts in. Time to get my first traditional kill. Tuesday I will head to my lease for about a week. I need to get things in the freezer so I can get to killing ducks. No more worrying about boy scout outings, no more doctor visits, no more "gotta get it done by the weekend dock work". Just time to get serious about what I love to do and do it in a manner that challenges me more than any I have tried so far. up

Go get-R-done

Getting It done with a Recurve is a different challenge but you have put in the work to be proficient now go complete the quest. We have confidence in you to close the deal with your traditional gear. Pick your shot, concentrate on the spot, smooth draw while concentrating on the shot you will get it done.

All that said if on the draw something doesn't feel right let the bow down. I have finally learned if the shot feels wrong it will be. Now if I could just learn to do that in golf.

Good luck! I still haven't managed to put a deer on the ground with my training wheeled bow this season. Leaving here in a minute to try to change that.

I've got three four year old bucks, two 10s and a 9, co.ing to the feeder. Half a dozen 8s 3 years and younger and some young scrubs. No mature deer here yet.

Finally tagged a mature management 9. Just not the older, higher scoring trophy bucks around that I had hoped for this year. Two years of good nutrition and green feed hasn't helped.

I popped a small doe as well but it was late and I didn't bother with a pic of it.

Thanx fellas but if you look his brows are under 2" and his longest tines are under 6". Decent mass but for a four year old we want some better frame work.

Sitting for a pig tonight but it's slow. 75 degees today. 15 degrees just Sunday night. Crazy.

That's a great looking buck! Congrats! I took my first Texas deer 5 weeks ago with my crossbow. It came in from the left at 10 yards, walked right towards my blind, walked back to 18 to 20 yards and then started walking to the right and I was able to get a clean shot. I really wish that I brought my recurve with me that day because it was perfect for it. But if I did bring it out then the deer would have came out at the feeder 40 yards away lol. It was a 7 point buck that I never seen before on the cameras I have set up so it was definitely wandering through the area. I hope you get your first traditional bow kill this season. Congrats again on the great looking buck.

Finished off the regular season by letting two more Rage heads eat on a doe and cull buck.

Shot looks back but it exited through the off shoulder.

Wasn't bad. Gonna work hard to get a doe with my recurve in the next couple weeks. That will be the icing on the cake.

Well I wounded and lost two this year with it. I actually found one of them the next morning but it was too late. So I had to figure out what I was doing wrong. I believe I was over extending my bow arm causing me to shoot high and left. Hopefully I can keep my composure enough not to do that next time. Plus the pigs have moved in on the ranch and hopefully I can get some practice in on them.

Well finally a kill with my recurve. Got a doe last night at our new ranch. 13 yards. Not a perfect shot but got liver and one lung. 175 yard blood trail. My computer is down so I can't get to my photobucket account and can't use Tapatalk to post here so can't show you a pic.
