chairs for bowhunting

I am going to start bowhunting again after 15 years. I used to use a tripod and hunt off day leases, etc but now I have my own deer lease. I have two feeders north and south of my rifle blind. So I found a spot from each feeder which is about 15 yards away. I have not put a tripod, I just went there the other day and used a weedeater to clear a spot behind some low brush facing the feeders. My question is what do you guys use to sit on while waiting? I'll be hunting off the ground so I have a pair of snakeproof boots for those rattlers / copperheads in South Texas. Will a rattler strike high enough if sitting on a foam padded 5 gallon bucket? Don't want a rattler biting me in the [censored].
I'll use the feeder that is upwind of me depending which way the wind blows.

I still have that old string spool that you screw in to your bow and you tie off the string to the arrow, right under the broadhead and shoot those hogs and they run with the string and easier to find them in the heavy brush. How far are those effective for? I think max is 20 yards, not sure. Anyone use them? Without the string, it will be a pita finding them in the heavy brush, lol.

Which broadheads are bleeders and effective for short shot stops? I have the old Montecs, SplitFires, Vortecs, and Sabertooths Steelforce. All are 100 grain.

I use one of those director type folding chairs with the armrests, and I also like those plastic stacker chairs because they are silent and make no noise whereas the folding chairs tend to make some noise that is audible to the deer.
As far as tying anything to the arrow like bowfishermen do I would not recommend it, and I've never heard of anyone doing that.
Bowhunting is hard enough without overthinking it.
Broadheads need to be sharp and fly straight from your bow rather than the brand name.

Jimbo, I found a link on You tube on the string tracker I used long ago. Mine spooled out about 50 to 80 feet into thick brush, its easier to find them when I bagged 3 hogs in one sitting out of the tripod in 30 mins. I have bought "hunting" chairs for some of my ground blinds (I don't normally hunt from the ground, so I am not an expert on chairs). However, after trial and error, I found that metal folding chairs (with a padded FABRIC seat) that you can buy at Office Depot or Walmart are more comfortable than anything else that I have used. They are quiet and hold up well during multiple seasons.

Thanks guys, I'll go to Bass Pro sometime this week, see if they have a chair comfty enough for the ground. I am not hunting out of a ground blind though, I'll just camo myself real good with some leafy outfit and sit behind some low brush that overlooks the feeder, hogs won't know I am there. I already have those Hunter chairs for the blind.

I just pick up the cheap office chairs that I find on craigs list for 10 to 15 bucks apiece. Nice comfy chairs with no arm rests for bow hunting.

I buy the metal folding chairs and then a cheap foam pad at Walmart. The chairs are comfortable and do not make much noise if you take the time to get them level. First thing I do when I sit down in one is to rock or twist my body back and for to see if it creaks or makes any noise. If it does I twist the chair to move the legs a bit and retry it. Once you have it in a position it does not make any noise you are good to go. I set my hunting blinds up with one window to shoot out of so I do not have to move again. I sit in the same position I will be shooting out of also with the animal off of my left shoulder.
I am going to place a ground blind now and going to experiment with a cheap office chair that will swivel but taking off the caster wheels. I want to see it if will be quiet enough and allow me a bit wore room to turn with no noise. The chair will have a cloth padded seat and back but no arm rests.

My daughter and I sat in the Primos Magnum chair this past weekend, its a fold up tri-legged chair with a good amount of support in the front and a quite comfortable back rest. I think I got them at cabelas for 29.99 each. Best fold up chairs I have found, quiet, confy, and easy to transport. And, as we found out when it started getting light, they are super easy to pick up and move and stay quiet.

We hunted sun am just like you described, except not behind brush but in front of it. It was a make shift move to a more trafficked area and we just made sure we were not being silhouetted from behind, but had deer moving within 25 yards of us. Chairs worked well for us.

Just got back from Bass pro, picked a Blackout Tri chair, feels pretty comfortable. Just need a little camo paint on the legs and fabric is camoed. It's pretty quiet when sitting in it. I asked a sales rep to grab a couple brands of tri chairs from the warehouse for me to try it out before I buy it. He was helpful in meeting my needs.

Can't deny that is a nice chair. Comfortable, sturdy and stable. However it doesn't have wheels, and the arms can interfere with a bow shot if your not careful.

That said I have one in my blind and it's nice to nap in before the morning feeder goes off.

I wouldn't want a bow chair with arms on it... I got these swivel chairs and I'm pleased. I would have liked for the legs to have the wide feet other than that great.

A comfortable chair is important, being that you might be sitting for several hours just waiting for the opportunity to present itself. The chairs I use in our bow blinds are solid meaning no moving parts. They have a good backrest on them and NO ARM REST. In my opinion the armrest gets in the way if you wish to turn your body sideways to draw your bow. I will also put a cushion on the hard seat to make it a bit softer. I also like to put carpet on the floor of my ground blinds over the top of the dirt. The carpet offers a little insolation from the ground and easy on the feet.
