Horton Storm RDX

Is anyone shooting one of these? My dad picked one up and Ive been shooting it today. Its pretty amazing. Easy to zero in at 30 yards and then it was nothing but bullseyes at 30, 40 and 50 yards. And, even at 50 yards standing behind the shooter you cant track the arrow it shoots so fast, and still hits extremely hard. The one he bought has the accudraw which I really like.

The only issue is when I switched from 100 grn field points to the 100gr Thunderheads IVe always used, they were WAY off. Wondering if anyone has a better suggestion for a broadhead? Also going to need a better target that can handle broadheads and the crazy penetration this crossbow has.

Nathan, some crossbows just don't seem to like fixed blade heads. I think that the faster shooting ones are the worst. Might try a mechanical and see what it does. I have had success with the Swhacker heads, and the NAP Killzone gets good reviews. slick trick seems to be the favored fixed blade.

NAP SPitfires for Crossbow or grim Reaper for crossbow both work well. I shoot the grim reapers from my FX4 stealth, and am very pleased. My brother likes his spitfires. I partial to grim Reaper for the practice head, NAP's do not come with one. My brother tried fixed blade and had difficulty sighting in a group of arrows. Somebody talked into some Rage three blade, but they did not group any better. I think they may have tried to open in flight, but not sure.

Are the cams in time? If not it will not shoot right.

Well, it shoot bullseye perfect with field points. Most accurate bow Ive ever shot. It was only after switching to the fixed blade broad heads that we saw the difference. I get the spitfires in tomorrow and will shoot it with them Thursday and update on how it does with them. Probably going to see about upgrading the scope it came with to one with a lighted reticle as well.

Nathan I ask about timing of the cams because if one is leading the other the arrow will come off the bow with torque and the fletching will straighten the flight of the bolt. A fixed blade broadhead will catch air and wind plane causing it to impact a different location usually with less accuracy. Just like a tuned compound bow will shoot better so will a crossbow.

Expandable blades are a bandaid for this since they have a lower profile and catch less air to wind plane. Not saying they cannot be accurate but best accuracy will be achieved with any bow with an arrow or bolt flying straight from a bow that is tuned correctly.

IIRC the Horton Storm has small round marks on the cam like are on Tenpoint crossbows. Timing of the cams is easy to check if the same marks on each cam intersect the limbs at the same point. If they are not it is easy for a bowtech with a cross bow press to get it in time.

I like my Steel Force 145 Phatheads, they fly like field points and hit like a sledge hammer. My crossbow is not quite as fast as yours (225lb Kodabow) but the phatheads are designed for fast bows.
