1 pin sight vs. multi pin

I've been trying to deicde which one I want to get for this upcoming season I currently have a trophy ridge 5 pin and want to know your opinion from experience thank you.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input I'm relatively new to bow hunting I shot two bucks last season with my react sight and was fairly pleased with it. Just was wondering if anyone has had better accuracy with one pins or the pros and cons of them thank you anyways I will stick with my set up this season and reconsider in February.

As said above: Don't make big changes now, wait for next season.

That said, I hunt with a single pin and have for years, and recognize some real world pros and cons.

Pros: Better increased incremental accuracy with the ability to adjust yardage by the fraction of the yard from 10-100 yards. This allows extreme precision and long range capability for target practice and, if you desire, hunting situations. Secondly, and highly beneficial to hunting, a single pin gives a clean and clutter free sight picture allowing me to have better shot placement and observe body motion of the animal in peripheral view.

Cons: Can't make range adjustments at full draw. Few seasons ago,
I drew back on a mule deer, and the stupid bug netting mesh under my hood I was wearing fell down and blocked my view, as I made adjustments at draw to clear my view the deer scooted from 20 yards out to 40 or so (a very doable shot, but not one I wanted to make by using 20 yard pin holdover). Also, I have seen people miss 20 yard shots because they forgot to reset their pin from when they had it adjusted to say 40 yards. This one can be easily avoided by the user, but happens frequent enough to be a consideration.

How do I compromise? I shoot a pretty fast bow, and my feeder on my main place is set out at 20 yards, thus I set my pin at 25 yards in case a deer comes in quick to the feeder area I can make a shot from 20-30 yards with good accuracy when I am without time for range adjustment. If a deer is taking its time and is on a predicted path, I can range a specific object (tree or rock) determine the exact range and set my pin, draw, and shoot when the deer is close to the object and in good body position. So far this works well, and I have shot a buck at 53 yards as the longest shot on a deer.

I like fixed pins. Just less movement and adjustments and more to think about before a shot. I like to keep it simple

That's what I was thinking just didn't know if there were any major advantages to a 1 pin I appriciate everyone's input it's really helpful.

Ive tried both and prefer a multi fixed pin sight. I know as many people who forgot to adjust their single pin sight after ranging as I do that chose the wrong pin after ranging.

Hunt with what is working for you right now. If you're comfortable with it, shoot it.

As far as changing before season opens is strictly the level of archery you at. Some can acclimate to a change without a thought, just remember bow hunting sometimes you don't have much time to think about it, the shot must come instinctively without much hesitation.

I think I will just stick with the 5 pin I have from what I have read. Too much to worry about in the moment with a 1 pin thank everyone for your comments

I switched last year from a fixed three pin to a single pin in the middle of a four day hunt at my place. Got tired of my three pin and wanted a little more range for a certain area I was at. So hauled into Texarkana and bought a cbe tek hybrid, recommendation from bobo and a few others. It is one of the best things I have done. The sight is not cheap but very good. I have been shooting the same bow for seven years or something like that and I am very comfortable with it. Had the new sight on after the morning hunt and sighted it in and shoot out to 70 yards with it making good shots. Then still made the night hunt.

Like they said it comes down to how much time you have with your bow if your relatively new I wouldn't change anything yet but I do like the single pin.

My number one reason for using a multi-pin is adjustment in the field. I don't like to be changing things and like to be able to adjust if the animal does something I wasn't expecting. I don't like a hold over, I like to put it where I want the arrow to hit.

I shot a single pin for years, but I also wouldn't shoot at an animal over 25 yards. No reason for any other pins.

Single pin is great for 3D shooting though and if you are hunting in an area that shots will be limited, no need for additional pins to clutter the view.

Just got back from an elk hunt. Unfortunately, no luck even seeing a bull within 500 yds for me. But another guy took a shot at a big bull. He uses a single pin. I voiced my concern before we went that elk don't usually stop at the distance you're dialed in for. And that's why I like a multi-pin. I guess I doomed him bc that's exactly what happened. He had ranged, but didn't have time to re-range and adjust his site as the elk moved. Shot under the 6x6 twice.

Deer will usually stop at feeder, so that's less of a problem if you're hunting over a feeder.

Man! That is really unfortunate I will most likely stick with my react sight took two nice bucks last year and from what I'm hearing the 1 pin has some advantages but just as many disadvantages to go along with it
