Good question who's the yoda of bow tuning in the DFW area???

Re: Best tuner in NTX - 03/10/15 06:35 PM

I would think it depends on what kind of bow. Allstar in Lewisville is really good with Bowtech, mathews, and hoyte.

It's been a while, but Jim at Alvarado always did me right.

If I remember correctly, Jim has opened his own shop in Stephenville area. He was my go to guy at Alvarado Archery but now I will find his new shop in Stephenville. Yes it is a further drive but he has done me right over the years and at one time was a Bowtech staff shooter and had been to Bowtech University so I have always trusted him with my Bowtech.

Just bought an Insanity from Steve at Alvarado Archery. Set it up perfect, shoots like a dream. I would recommend.

Re: Best tuner in NTX - 04/29/15 02:26 AM

Wes is my pick in N. Texas. I will leave CCR if I need something and he isnt working. I will go to On Target, Brian and Buck are pretty good too.

Havent been to Alvarado for work, shot there a couple times. I have heard good things about the shop overall.

All Star didnt seem like a bad place either, and heard decent things about them too.

Collin County Archery in Princeton is great. String and cables and tune using Pyro custom strings for about 125 for everything. Josh sells Expedition, Obsession, New Breed and I think Elite bows. I promise you wont be disappointed in his attention and Pyro strings are all I shoot. Made custom in Denton with your choice of colors. All I have shot for 6 years with zero change in any of my peeps or string stretch. You wont be disappointed.

Jerry never opened a shop but will still do some for some people out of his home I believe. I do know he's busier than ever with his new job so that could have changed. Last time I asked he was willing to take some work from me.

Try Stan at Smithfield Archery in Fort Worth, only person I'll let touch my bow. I stay away from CCR as it seems if your not "in the club" you might as well not even bother trying to get help there.

Give CCR another try. Come in and ask for me. I will take care of you. CCR is working on those issues and should be resolved very soon.

Another vote for Stan at Smithfield Archery!

Was at Smithfield last week and Stan has retired. Only have a bow tech there part time now. Took my bow to CCR for new strings.
