this to move freely will work as a backstop for shooting in the backyard.

It'll work for sure, if your wanting a rubber backstop you might be able to talk to ssomeone that works at a rock crusher and get some conveyor belt for free just a thought

I tried some of the rubber/canvas back material as a back stop. Tried a chunk first with wood behind it and it was an epic fail. Now the thick stall mat type of material may work different, this was more conveyer belt type material. Two layers didn't stop a 270fps arrow.

Ya I was trying avoid the stall mat just because it's 100 lbs. I'd like to find something portable that I could tear down and out in my garage after using it.
