New EDC

New EDC - 12/29/23 03:01 AM

Recently switched to a G45 with ACRO sight at work and was forced to switch my off duty/ EDC to a Glock also. So this 43x MOS Rail followed me home. Topped it with a Holosun EPS carry, lighting is provided by a Streamlight TLR-7sub, and wrapped the grip with rubber from Talon Grips.

Handy little EDC.

Here’s its big brother, the 45

Barrel length doesn’t matter with red dots

I’ll be running the PSA version of the Shield Arms 15 round magazines. With the PSA version you don’t need to change out the mag catch

Those Palmetto mags are great. I liked them better than the Shields.

Great combo!!

wish I could like Glocks, maybe it's my Vienna sausage fingers but I just can't get there.

those things do work.

Re: New EDC - 12/29/23 03:14 PM

Oh I don’t like them, just forced into them.

Don’t get me wrong, I think they are great guns, I just prefer my Sig’s and all metal guns

I’m on the waiting list. I need 3. Once I have them I can go qualify with it

Nice set! What holster are you using for the 43?

Re: New EDC - 12/29/23 03:25 PM

I picked up a 43X over the summer. I alternate between it and my S&W Performance Center 637-2 as my main carry guns.

Haven’t decided yet. Something OWB

excellent choice-- interested to see how you feel about the mini-RDS; I had a RMRcc on my 43x and just felt the window was too small and went back to irons on it. My full size work guns have an RMR and a 509T on them.

Re: New EDC - 12/29/23 11:30 PM

Honestly, so far I prefer the size of the Holosun over the ACRO. I’m faster with dot acquisition on the EPS and the frame completely disappears from my peripheral unlike the ACRO. As far as the dots themselves, they all look like a 2 year old drew a star

Love my 43x mos w holosun
Why wait for the Psa mags qual w factory and switch when ya can grab the Psa’s
They got some in stock 2 days ago and I got notified yesterday they were sold out 2 days ago as soon as I say the ad I checked

Re: New EDC - 12/30/23 01:20 AM

Agh they never notified me bang and I check multiple times a day.

I have to have 3 mags for qual, and only have 2 of the 10 round mags right now, so I was going to wait

Appreciate that. You know how it is with having to conform to standards. We can’t use the Shield mags because that requires changing the mag catch, which alters the gun, and we can’t have that even though it’s our personal gun for off duty carry. rolleyes

So I shall wait until PSA mags are available. I’m honestly shocked we are even allowed to carry those. They bitched and loaned about my factory Sig 15 round extended mags for my P226.

So they'll let you mount an optic (and I'm assuming change out the sights for proper height ones) but you can't replace a part that doesn't affect the function of the weapon (firing sequence)?? Are you allowed to utilize different iron sights if you you want??

I can understand not messing with internals from a reliability and liability standpoint... but anything that doesn't affect the function/reliability should be your choice, ESPECIALLY on a personal off duty weapon....

Yep. We have to qualify with them at our department and they service and maintain them if anything fails, which is why we are transitioning to all Glock. The fact that we can use PSA mags without having to change the mag catch means we can seamlessly transition back to the factory mags without issue. The Shield mags require the change. I really don’t see it as an issue. Our Firearms Training Center does extensive testing on everything firearm related before allowing us to use it.

As far as raised sights, we have them on our duty weapon, but they are not required on the 43x due to how low the Holosun mounts. That being said, I think there are 2 options for sights on our duty gun outside of what they give us.

Re: New EDC - 01/03/24 04:07 PM

I few months ago I purchased a Holosun (HE507K-GR-X2-ACSS) for my Sig 365. It features the ACCS Vulcan Reticle (center dot for aiming and a 230moa ring outside your field of view). When the gun is pointed off-center in any direction then the you see the edge of the outer ring being dragged into the field of view. For example if your muzzle is pointed to the left of center then the curved edge of the outer circle appears on right side of view window. You intuitively know to correct the gun back toward the right. Its a game changer in speed of acquiring the dot. Holosun offer this reticle in both the 507C (standard size pistol size) and the 507K (small compact pistol size) as well as your choice of red or green.

easiest way to describe it is seeing a video (start at minute 3:00 in the video)

Re: New EDC - 01/04/24 03:50 AM

That’s pretty neat. Not one of the variations we are allowed to use, but still pretty neat. The way they trained us to come to sights makes it very easy to acquire the 3.5 MOA dot of the ACRO, and it is much faster than irons with practice.

Some officers elected to get the 2moa dot with the 32moa ring around it in the Holosun, unfortunately for me and my astigmatism, that just becomes 1 odd looking 32moa dot.

Got my mags yesterday a bit tight at last two rounds. But fit nice

Lordy...I thought MINE was bad. I won't be bitching about my own astigmatism anymore.

Re: New EDC - 01/12/24 08:01 PM

Holster arrived. Pretty happy with the fit and retention.

Not overly impressed with the PSG mag. Top of one of them is very sharp. 2 of them I got 14 rounds in, 1 of them only took 13. They definitely need to see some use. They seem to work great in the gun and eject much easier than the factory mags.

I didn’t know mine was bad until I looked at that reticle.
