Ruger 10/22 zeroed at 50 yards, but I do shoot it at 100 also.

My daughter and I practice on the 50 yard range.

If I might add, not all .22 ammo is the same when it comes to tight groups. Shoot cheap ammo and you'll be checking your scope, rings, gun, and everything else to see why your shots are scattering the target.

The best value that I've seen are the large "blocks" of Remington and Federal ammo that cost about $10-12 at Wal-Mart and other places. For something to take to the field and use on game, I really like the CCI Velocitor.

I've always zeroed mine at 50 yards, but all I really use a 22 for is squirrel hunting and shooting the occasional pesky critter around my place, snakes, etc.

according to my ballistic software, a typical 22LR, sighted dead on at 50yds, will be about 5.5" low at 100.

Dead on at the average distance I expect to be shooting when hunting with it.

the main one I use (browning grade I) is sighted in 1" high at 50. Thats about as far as I need it... have a 22mag if I plan on shooting further than that.

I kept my 10/22 dead on at 50yds and had a ballistic reticle to account for shots out to 100 yards. My .17HMR I used to have was zero's at 100 and 5"ish low at 200.

My squirrel hunting video said 25 yards, most shots are taken at 25yards for hunting squirrel. I personally use my 17hmr sighted in at 50 yards and my farthest shot that took a squirrel was at a little over a 100 yards, I paced it off, couldn,t believe I got him. I tried waiting for him to come closer but he just set there. I watched him in the scope and used a stick to help hold the gun steady.
