for a Ruger Number One.

I'm thinking 7-08 light sporter or 7x57 International. Anyone have any experience with the Number One?

Fun guns and short overall length for the barrel length since the action is so short.

Only #1 I have left is one in 275 Rigby and is one o the international ones made for the Dallas Arms Collectors association.

How do you like it? I've just always wanted to get one. I recognize it's probably not going to be a tac driver.

Love them but they can be aggravating. Some shoot decent right off the bat, some need a little “shimming”, some you can’t get to shoot no matter how much you spend. I have a close friend that has always had them and he finally got to where he is happy if he can get first cold shot where it needs to be.
They’re beautiful, classy rifles that can suck you in. So many different models, calibers, and they can have beautiful wood if you’re lucky.
I’ll always have one- or 6.

I love them.

Would like to own one someday but probably won’t.

I like it well enough I still have it. Though not a tack driver it is plenty accurate for any deer or hog I will shoot with it on the places I hunt with it where shots over 250 yards are rare and most shots are inside 150. Haven't shot for groups with it in years and really haven't shot it in several years IIRC groups were about 1.25 to 1.5 with a 1-4X20 scope at 100 yards with Federal factory loaded 140gr partitions so with that ammo it is a shooter or well enough for low power scope and factory fodder. Never really loaded for it as that was good enough for my uses and I reload for enough rifles/handguns/shotguns to keep me busy

One of the best looking guns I ever owned.

Also the worst shooting gun I ever owned!!!!!!

Went through 3 scopes trying to convince myself it couldn’t be the gun.....BUT IT WAS!

My smooth-barrel shotgun with slugs patterned better. On a great day 3” groups at 100yds but most days it was worse. But I didn’t waste time with the shimming process. Cut my losses and sold it.

One of those rifles everybody should have at least one in their collection another would be the Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall.

If they made a double rifle version that'd hold 2" at 100yds, I'll bet they'd sell like crazy.

Have the 1885 Hi-wall in 45-70 and a lo-wall in 22 Hornet. Great guns.

I'd jump on that for Ruger pricing.
