Thread Protectors

Thread Protectors - 06/20/18 02:18 AM

I just ordered a rifle that has a threaded barrel with a thread protector. I have no plans to get a brake or suppressor so the thread protector would stay on it if I don't have the barrel cut down two inches and re-crowned. My question is this:
Do the thread protector's come loose from shooting and is there a way to keep them from coming loose? Loctite seems like the obvious answer but I don't have any experience with thread protectors so I don't know if that would work or not.

Never really had a problem coming loose. You will naturally hand check it
I have about 4 guns with tps

Put some low strength LockTite on, and tighten by hand, all you can. Should be good to go.

A small o-ring from HD behind the thread protector will keep it on and makes removing easy.
Or a small dab of silicone.

Blue Loctite will do.
