Barrel Fluting - 05/30/18 06:29 AM

Just sent my match grade Wilson Combat 6.8 spc barrel to Carl at Kampfeld Custom. He trimmed 5.7oz w/spiral fluting. Carl is a great guy to deal with. Communication was great and turnaround was only 12 days w/shipping both ways. Highly recommend him. Price was very fair also!!! Can see a pic at photos/finally finished my 6.8

He did one for me. Great job, fast turn around, easy to work with.

Yup.

Next time I need one fluted, I will not even shop around for someone else to do it. Off to Kampfield it will go.

Yeah, directed at the OP..
Did you shoot the barrel before it was sent off, i.e., a before and after accuracy test.

I had a buddy that wrecked a 6.8 barrel by having two much taken off..

you made the right decision. Karl is magic on a machine

weather you shot it first, makes no difference.

He did the barrel, bolt and bolt knob, installed a Jewell Trigger and bedded my Rem. 700 5R. Gun shoots very good and mayor coming up on the classifieds soon, Big Fitz has his eye on it bolt

The one he did for me started out at 26" Bull barrel, weighed 6 pounds. When I got it back, I had it cut to 22" and very deep spiral fluting, it weighed about 4 pounds. Accuracy was great.
