If you bought it used, then my guess would be someone screwed a Model 700 barrel on your action.

It's only upside down on how you look at it!

Well crap. I shouldn't have said anything again. No telling what kind of responses you would have gotten.

I would stick with the story that you have to load the ammo in upside down for it to properly chamber and that the bullet rises when it comes out of the muzzle so that you always have to aim low.

Or it is an experimental Model 707 and you were chosen to test it.

I think I read about this one in Popular Science. Or may be not.

Oohhh yeah, I remember now. I thought that was what the article said, but then I realized I was holding the magazine upside down. It turned out to be an article on how to power your F250 on household garbage.

Maybe the bullet will rise the further it goes rather than drop?

That's what I was going for. Unfortunately physics dictate otherwise frown

I'm considering chopping the spout to 16" with a dremel and crowning it with a brass screw to make the bullets squirt a bit better and balance out properly. Hint

I have a M7 with upside down writing too, but mine was via a barrel replacement. Still, if we were both at the range at the same time it would make for quite the amusing scene.

I swapped the 223 barrel off the old Staggered feed Model 12 Savage to a Center feed Model 11 action with a DBM,and it was the same way when I headspaced it.
It didn't shoot as precise on the newer action,so I swapped it back to the original Model 12 action.

This one seems to do pretty good without a freefloated stock so far. I'm probably going to get a McMillan for it in the future, but basically what happened was, I already had a model 7 in 308 that would shoot great for 3 rounds, but kick like hell.

I got in trade a m700 LTR. I didn't want 2 308s, or really 1 for that matter. I decided to swap the heavier barrel on the model 7 to make it more "shootable", and I am in the process of having a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel installed on the m700.

I shot the rebarreled model 7 on sunday. It looks promising, even with the 1-12 twist barrel.
