Ruger 10/22 Trigger Assembly

The various forums suggest that the newer polymer/plastic, or whatever they are made of assemblies, may actually be better than the older tried and true all metal assemblies.

Anyone on here with a lot of experience with both with an opinion--like a bazillion rounds with a new one? That's probably the round count in one I've had for over thirty years. What about the rest of the gun?

I'm just in the camp that they don't make them like they used to.

I got one of the new ruger bx trigger's in my tactical solutions 10/22. I have only put a couple hundred rounds through it, but so far it's a great trigger and a fun little gun. Crisp clean break at just over 2 lbs...I'm happy.

That must be for those one hole punching heavy barrel guns. I'm not quite that serious about it. That is more than the gun I would put it on.

I'm referring to bone stock new vs. old---just a plinker.

To think how much more fun many years ago the above trigger/s could have been. I and friends of mine have burned up many many bricks of 22 through my bone stock 80's era 10/22 with a simple Tasco Red Dot---shooting skeet. I'm actually referring to straight away "pasture" trap.

To tell somebody what we were doing---everyone called BS. Then we invited them out, and they did it with us. Throw a straight away pigeon and put the red dot barely under it and just start plinking. I think the best any of us ever did was one bird in three shots---more often one bird in four or five before out of range.

It really was a blast. You could actually just barely hear the pigeons shatter.

Had both to be honest I couldn’t tell much difference. Prefer older because it’s metal. Now aftermarket options that’s another story.

I have both styles and don't find one better than the other, just some minor differences.

There isn't any difference in function, but the polymer won't fracture in an impact and the finish won't rub off. Of course it can't be polished to a silvery shine either.

I have the BX trigger as well, it's definitely an upgrade. I wish I hadn't been an early adopter, though. Paid about 40% too much for it.

On rimfirecentral a bunch of guys recommended Brimestone so I tried them. Worth every penny.

I have two of the Tier 2 triggers from Brimstone. They are good, worth the money for sure.

For most things 10/22 I use Randy at Connecticut Precision Chambering.

He pioneered many of the mods folks at RFC talk about and his bolt/barrel/trigger package is one of the best values out there.

You could take it apart and polish it yourself too. Be careful not to go too far. You can get sandpaper by the sheet from one of the auto body suppliers all the way to 2000 grit. Be careful not to go too far.

I also have one did by brimstone a couple years ago, tier 2 and very glad i done it. Put it in a ruger 10/22 with the sbx barrel and collapsible stock for boy when he gets old enough to shoot. Should fit him just right!
