New Hawken Rifle - 08/04/17 07:36 AM
I just received a new Hawken rifle. Its been about 3 1/2 years since I ordered it, but it was worth
it. I don't have pictures yet, maybe tomorrow. It was made by Brant Selb. Its a work of art and shoots great. I had it made with a .54 cal. barrel and I can switch it out with a .62 cal. Taking it elk hunting in Sept, I have Colorado cow elk muzzleloader lic.

Love those 62's! Great hunting caliber and the Hawken is the all around best hunting rifle to have it in. Good choices.

Sounds like a good one. Is the .62 a straight slug or sabot round. I am not familiar with it.

The rifle has a .62 cal barrel made by Rice Barrel Co. I think its a 1:70 twist for round balls. I fired the .54 cal and it shoots great, that barrel is a Colerain 1:56 twist. I still need to sight this in, but its not bad only hits about 4" low at 50 yards. Pictures are coming in the morning. I leave for work for 32 days in Kuwait tomorrow so I'm trying to get everything done tonight and in the morning.

Looks great...you should have a lot of fun with that one. Rice makes one of their barrels with round bottom grooves and they shoot great and clean easy. They are quality barrels. I shoot a .62 often in a smoothbore flinter and a percussion English sporting rifle. 90 gr. of 2f behind a patched round ball is very effective on larger game.
