Yeah. I don't see what any other paint can provide that a 1.99 off brand spray paint can't.

Re: New target paint, - 08/03/17 08:55 PM

I've been using Rust-Oleum marking paint. Love the straight nozzle that sprays with the can pointed down. Unless your target stand is really tall, it works much better than regular spray paint where you have to keep the can more or less upright.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 01:08 AM

Rustoleum can crumble and burn to the ground for all I care. I hope every one of the board of directors get skin cancer.

Spend good money on their paint, and unless the entire can is used in one setting, the nozzle is going to clog and "paid for" paint will be in the can and be unobtainium.

F them!

That's easily the strongest opinion I've ever heard about something so minor.

Opinion that is too strong and I will bet most would disagree. But it is okay to have your opinion as such.

Have about $300 STOLEN from you, and let me know how you feel.

I was going to say something earlier but did not want to poke the bear. The crappy nozzle rustoleum uses are worthless.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 01:47 AM

I use the marking paint that's inverted but just buy the Ace Hardware branded. If I buy bulk they give me a good discount.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 01:57 AM

All I know is I have multiple cans of rustoleum in my garage that have been used multiple times.

Or I'm just lucky. Certainly not saying you haven't had problems with them. I'm just saying I haven't.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 02:13 AM

You home? Go try to discharge paint from every can of Rustoleum you have, if you wouldn't mind.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 02:14 AM

Rustoleum is all I use peep

Maybe rustoleum cans is like you and gas guns you just lock em up..

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 02:17 AM

Rustoleum is the best spray paint ever created.

Said no one ever!!!
I, too, have been screwed by Rustoleum & their ghetto nozzles. I spent a ton on their bed liner type spray paint for my rear bumper I built, rock sliders & off road trailer. Not 1 single can functioned long enough to use all the paint in it. Not 1. Took them all, used, back to Lowe's & the lady refunded all my money! She said Rustoleum gets returned all the time & they don't even ask what the problem with it was anymore.

I really think this is just another spray paint, but you have to order online. I feel it's a solution looking for a problem.

Get 15 to 30 miles away from a store, and painting is the final step of a project, and the paint you paid good money for doesn't come out. Yeah, angry is a good word. But I've got no issue with it.

I actually didn't know what I used I just went to the garage and looked and they're all rustoleum camo colors I bought when I painted my AR about 2 years ago. I just used it again about a month ago to paint some pig pipes.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 03:10 AM

Maybe that is why your pig pipes didn't work

I'm gonna make a video for Garvey of me spraying every one of the bazillion rusfoleum cans I've got at the shop. Stuff works just fine for me, are you sure you're pushing the button on top and not the bottom part?

invert the can and blow the paint out of the nozzle before storing the can

And there is your answer......I just about to post that..... cheers

...and if they still clog up tape them to your targets and shoot them.....you can simultaneously repaint the target and take out a frustration towards the manufacturer.....

And that is Krylon.

I've cleaned Rustolem nozzles with acetone, paint thinner, Oxy-Fuel torch tip files, you name it. Still end up with very full cans that won't let out any paint. Rustoleum is a waste of money.

Then the only thing left to do is tape them to your targets and take out a little frustration.....be sure to post pics....video from a drone would be even better.....

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 01:59 PM

I bet all of these Rustoleum problems are with the regular type spray cans, not the inverted marking paints. I've gone through a couple dozen cans of the marking paint over the last two years with zero clogs. And every can has completely emptied out.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 02:18 PM

Ground marking paint is water based. I believe. I wasn't satisfied with the coverage and adherence it made.
Posted By: Texan Til I Die

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 02:23 PM

Yep, water based and biodegradable. Harmless to plants and critters. You can definitely see some bleed through on my pics, but I've never noticed it while shooting. I leave my target hanging and always paint after the last shot. Come back a week later, even after a rain, and it's ready to shoot.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 02:56 PM

I just pulled out two 16-year-old cans of Rustoleum and although I had to shake the hell out of them, they ran just fine.

Re: New target paint, - 08/04/17 06:44 PM

I never thought painting steel targets would be so involved and passionate.
Usually I just buy the cheapest paint from Walmart for steel targets…Now I feel completely stupid for not giving this more thoughts.

heck no, too many people measuring their ____ instead of answering the questions. I saw this being used by some real, professional long range shooters, of course these shooters get paid to shoot so I guess they get paid to "push" this paint, looked really good but oh well. confused2
