Grab a gun warning

Grab a gun warning - 05/19/17 10:42 PM

When they say in stock, it does not mean in stock.

I went to buy a gun there but they said it would take 3-5 days for them to get it, even though their website said they have it

That's typical with way too many online retailers these days. It's how they keep customers. If everyone really listed the true stock status of items, they would lose a lot of business to other retailers... most people order and then just deal with the wait when they realize it's not actually in stock, rather than go through the hassle of a refund/cancelling the order etc...

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/20/17 12:08 AM

Well they lost one today...I was going to buy a gun from them, but I couldn't

My issue with it, is that A) it's deceptive and B) the distributor has no motive to hurry up and C) if something goes wrong a third company is in the mix

Pacific Tool and Gauge showed a reamer in stock, I paid for it, they took my money, and two days later sent me an e-mail saying it would be 4-6 weeks.

As far as I'm concerned, they lied to me, and as of right now, they are in possession of my stolen property. bs I say.

I'll be giving them some motivation on Monday.

Without a notice before hand??? They should give you your money back until they are ready to ship.

Why do you need a reamer? Didn't think you cut your own barrel

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/20/17 02:11 AM

I have bought several guns from grab a gun but always go to the store in Coppell & have not had any problems & I have had to wait while they transferred weapons from other warehouse's but was told at the time of purchase. Never have bought across the internet from them and it may be different

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/20/17 03:13 AM

Similar thing happened to me with a recent purchase from Buck Shot Sporting Goods. Three weeks after placing my order they failed to ship my gun that was supposedly in stock. They finally refunded my money and were kind enough not to charge me a restocking fee.

This why I've started ordering online from Whittakers in Owensboro KY. If they say they got it, they'll go put hands on it and confirm it's in stock. Helps to be able to chitchat with the owner if you want to. Best $$ 's anywhere on Howa 1500's. The owner is also is on 24HCF under "shortactionsmoker" screen name regularly.

Bud's is not bad but also has to pull from an offsite warehouse occasionaly that can add a day or 2, but their est'd shipping date has been spot on for me so far.

Haven't bought anything yet from Europtics in Pennsylvania but they've got a good rep for CS...just a little more pricy stuff though with their upscale target market.

The very best On Line seller I've used is CameraLand of New York, and has earned my bidnizz the old fashioned way. Talk to Doug or Neil.

I'm an amateur machinist, not qualified to chamber a barrel. But a great friend of mine is, and he didn't have the reamer we needed. So I ordered one so he'd always have it. He doesn't charge me for gun building. I expect about next month he will be bringing me a load of steel to build him some custom gates.

Good ole' boy system. wink

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/20/17 01:09 PM

Grabagun, Buds, Whittaker's, Eurooptic, and Cameraland have all been good to me. I've ordered the most through Buds/Cameraland but no complaints from any of them. I've ordered a few 700 bottom metals from PTG and found them to be unbeatable for the money. They aren't quick though. I read somewhere recently that they have been going through some growing pains. Their business has grown tremendously in the last few years.

I'm aware.

Thing is, I found no other supplier with that reamer. Might as well sit on the order and let it show up.

Still not getting it.

I'm fully aware I can stop or refund myself payment. The reamer IS NOT available anywhere else. I will wait on them to ship

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/21/17 02:01 AM

I have bought a few through grabagun and never had a problem. They don't keep much stock in the Coppell store. No big deal, order online, wait a couple days for them to email you and let you know it is onhand at the store and go pick it up. Carrying inventory costs money, I'll trade a three day wait for cheaper cost to me any day of the week. Don't like it go pick out what you want at Cabela's, Basspro or Gander Mountain(while they are still around) - they have plenty of stock on hand.

They held on to my Hybrid suppressor stamp and extra 3 months without one phone call . Screw them I'll never go there again

They stole my money too. Wouldn't correct incorrect headspace gauges. Never waste money on any PT&G purchase new or used they will not support their shoddy work.

Kind would be covering you for your wasted time. Time is money.

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/21/17 08:48 PM

Grab A Gun has the best prices around. If the gun is for sale at Academy, take the Grab A Gun ad or screen shot of their price. Academy will match it + take off 5%.

I take it that JGS didn't have it in stock either? They are just a tad higher in price, but my multiple smith friends, Jon Beanland included, prefer JGS reamer overy PTG any day of the week and twice on Friday's. Per them, the JGS is just a better product.

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/22/17 01:37 AM

That is not a supplier I knew of. Their site does not show one in stock. It would take a phone call to them to inquire as to how long it would take them to make one. I may do that on Tuesday. Thank you for bringing them up.

Nobody can touch Camera Land IMO. I never ask for Doug anymore, he's usually busy, I just ask for Neil. Having to wait 3-5 days on Grabagun is no biggie, especially if you are going to Coppell to pick it up. They don't have much inventory there so it makes sense they have to get it from a warehouse. If they have it in one of their warehouses, that means in stock to me. Unless I'm missing something.

Would you feel the same way if you went to Bass Pro or Academy and paid for something and they said it would show up in 3-5 days?

For an online website, I think we're all a little used to dealing with shipping delays. For a brick and mortar store, most of us expect "in stock" to actually mean that it's on site in the store ready for pickup as soon as I can drive my truck over there. But with grab-a-gun, that's not what it means. I was about to buy a gun from them a couple years ago and happened to be driving through Coppell the next day. Called to confirm and they acted like I was silly thinking that they had the gun in store. I told them that I would be driving through the next day and wasn't in the area often and live about an hour away and they really didn't seem to care. So I bought it online from somewhere else.

They order or drop ship from distributors like RSR, Sports South, Acusport, etc... Very typical for small-medium or online gun retailers.

Re: Grab a gun warning - 05/27/17 12:52 AM

I guess y'all don't Defender Outdoors, they will match anyone, or at least they have for me. It takes a phone call to verify it is on their shelf or at a distribution warehouse. I have bought 3 in stock items from Grab A Gun only to receive a call and a prompt refund. The only way I would use them at this point is if they are the only option.
