Anyone tell me a range of cost and time to expect on a suppressor for a 7mm-08? I haven't looked into it much but I have interest in getting one for a 7mm-08 and another for a . 243.
Range, $200-300 for build-your-own to over $1000 depending on what you buy, plus $200 for the taxman. Time, about 9-12 months, maybe longer.
Also depends on if dealer has it in stock. That adds another 6-8 weeks to the process on them filing a form 3. A guy I work with bought in early February last year and his form 4 didn't get filed till May 23rd. And he is still waiting at least another 3-4 weeks at this point.

$800 to $1,000 including the $200 tax stamp, my last efile was April 2016 and it took 7 months for me to get the call that the stamp was in.
I highly recommend going through silencershop.com for your purchase.

Griffin Reece 7 mod 3 at silencer shop. 30 cal and can work on both
I bought an Omega from silencer shop when they were selling them for crazy cheap. Got it for $725. After tax stamp and trust I spent about $1,000. Well worth it IMO, I love hunting with a suppressor.
Buy one that's rated for all your needs. SilencerCo now makes one that works on everything from pistols to rifles.

eFile is no longer available since 41F went into effect.
As for a Form 1 vs. a commercial suppressor, I would say that for the first one, a commercial suppressor would be better for you. I would also suggest a direct thread can as it will be being used on hunting rifles so a quick change over won't be necessary.
My recommendation would be a SilencerCo Harvester 30. I have one that I use on my .243 (Ruger American) and on my 6.8 SPC AR-15. It works very well and is very light. It won't break the bank either. Capitol Armory has it for $545 so you are looking at less than $800 with the tax stamp.
As for time, it is a long wait right now as they are still working through the backlog from the massive amount of Forms that were put in just before 41F went into effect in July. That being said, once that pile is complete, I would suspect that it will go down to 2-3 months.
