Bullet help for carbine

Well, this may spark some hatred. I bought a 45auto hipoint carbine. This actually the third hipoint carbine I've owned with the other 2 being 9mm and I've never had a problem with any. I know many hate hipoint like they have the plague.

Plan is to shoot some hogs from an elevated stand in under 30yds. If a doe comes out at right range, it may be victim as well. Plan would be to take only neck shots to avoid shoulder bones.

Suggestions on ammo I can buy at like a basspro? Also looking at some reasonably priced 3x scopes.

Nikon M223 scope in 3X would be a great scope on that gun. It's compact and the glass is good. Can be had for about $129 if you shop around.

I've never hunted with my 45, but I'd think that any good quality hollow point bullet of 185 grains or more would work well at the distances you mentioned. I'd find the most accurate load in the rifle.

I was trying to figure out if hollow point would do the job or not. Anyone hunted with a 45?

I would consider hard cast and aim for the shoulder.

I've killed pigs with my 1911 and hornady critical defense out of a bow stand. I don't know whether or not it's the best choice for the job, but it sure worked.

As a side note, those hipoint carbines run. Anyone who hates on them is probably just assuming they are garbage because they are cheap. The carbines are much more reliable than the pistols.

Hornady XTP or critical defense or speer gold dot would work.

My father never hunted, and he only ever owned a .22 rifle. I loaned him a hipoint 9mm because he doesnt like how "loud" most rifles are, and he killed 3 coyotes in 2 weeks from on his tractor. It just has a red dot zeroed at 50. Some people hate them, but they are good truck guns.

I've killed does and pigs with my 45LC levergun from 35-70 yds, using both hard cast and hollow points. Every one was a complete pass through. 45 is plenty. I would shoot the heaviest bullet you can find. I think my HP's were 230 gr. The hard cast were 255 gr.

I don't see the hard cast at my local basspro which is a issue because I plan to shoot a fair amount at the range so like easy access to the ammo.

Would thoughts be that any heavy hollow point that shoots well should be sufficient? I have some reloads (like factory reloads) I like the way they shoot and of course the price but didn't know if all hollows are created equal when comes to killing an animal and not a human

Oregon Trail Laser Cast are great bullets but I don't believe BassPro carries them. Cabelas does and they can be had online.
