Savage model 10T

Savage model 10T - 11/13/16 03:36 AM

Anyone have a review of them? I know they're a Cabela's exclusive and the reviews there are good.

I'm wanting a heavy barrel that I can shoot 500+ with and hunt with some. I've got a .308 now and I know that caliber is sufficient to shoot a long way but, well at the end of the day I want a new toy. grin Cabela's has this model on sale right now. As much as I would like to spend a couple grand on a custom/semi-custom its just not in the budget right now. Besides, I figure I should make sure its something I really enjoy before getting too deep into it.

I'm looking at the 6.5 Creedmoor version.

Open to any suggestions or recommendations for other guns in the $5-700 range also.

Thanks fellas.

I don't think you will find anything with those features for $499. I have a 10 Precision Carbine with many of the same features in 223 and it's extremely accurate with everything I feed it.

We bought one at academy for $549 and thought that was a super buy.

I bought one a few years ago. Tossed a Viper PST on top and ran a week long Sniper course for work with it. Gun works flawlessly.used it this past January to shoot and win the Hinters Challenge.

I would love to pick up a new one in 6.5Creedmore. It's just hard to eat them at such a good price. And if you want a 10 round drop mag check out darkeagle

I have one in .308 and two of my friends have the 6.5. I'm seriously thinking about snagging another in 6.5 just to have it. Concensus seems to be that the .308 version is always a great shooter while in the 6.5 MOST are great shooters with the occasional dog. Dog meaning even with handloads it won't shoot better than .75 MOA.

I've got a .308 with a PST on it. Banged steel at 400 with it this weekend. Shoots better than I can with 168gn SMK's or handloads.

I got a 10FCP-SR in .308
For the price you can't beat it. Plus .308 is reasonably cheap to shoot and always easy to find cheap.
I am not sure the Cabela's one comes with the accustock though. I know Cabelas usually has a mail-in rebate on Savages though.

Is that the one Cabela's has for $500? I believe there is a mail in rebate as well.

That is a heck of a deal for the rifle. It has a pic. rail mount already with it too. I like Savage a lot, they do a great job putting together packages like this. Plus, their rifles shoot lights out. The 6.5 Creed would be perfect, but if they don't have it you could always get a .308 and change the barrel to a 6.5 Creed.

Yes that the one. It's out of stock online but can be backordered.

I have one in 6.5. It shoots very, very well. That said, it's not in the factory stock which I found to be too flimsy for me. Also the included picatinny rail is 0moa, I replaced mine with a 20moa.
