ammo of choice for mossberg MVP in 5.56 - 11/06/16 07:37 PM

looking for opinions on commercial, Walmart available, ammo choices for my Mossberg mvp varmitter 24in barrel. chambered in 5.56/223. not looking for long range precision, looking for decent performance from 100-250 yds. and as always the more economical the better. have run tula 223, perfecta 223, and independence 5.56 and wasn't impressed, but its just 55gr fmj range ammo.

American Eagle in 55 or 62.
I prefer the 62s.
I generally reload for my American Ruger ranch with a 1/8 twist.

There is no way of knowing which economical brand of ammunition your rifle will like. It might like PMC, Herters, American Eagle or something else.

Federal fusion or Hornady American Whitetail

I've had great luck with Fusion in 5.56, 6.8, and 7mm-08. Try the non-MSR 62 gr. Warning, I don't think it's that cheap.

awesome. thank you for the suggestions. I know you get what you pay for, I just don't see the need in spending a bunch for like black hills ammo when I'm not reaching out that far. I'm okay with a little expensive, just not much more than .75c a round
