My 6yo is going to be stoked!

My 6yo rifle I ordered last week just came in. A .243 Ruger Americana youth model.

He has a Texas Dall and axis hunt coming up and he has no clue.

Excellent caliber for his age (IMO). He's going to love it. You're spoiling the boy - good job.

Excellent choice in caliber and rifle. I love my RA .243.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is better than the look in a kid's eyes when they find/get a new rifle. Good on ya!

A six year old can handle a 243? I'm not contesting...just kinda pleasantly surprised at how early folks have their kids shooting. My son is a tall 9 year old and he seems to wobbly with the Henry lever action 22. So I just bought him his first BB gun to learn sight picture and safety etc, but even with the BB gun it seems like the length of pull is awkward for him. We've only done two shooting sessions so maybe he will catch on quickly...

He shoots a .410 single shot, .22 Ruger 10-22 and a .223

He holds the gun well when he sits staggered as we tried it out at champions before we bought the rifle.

Going to be very exciting seeing him shoot his first " big " game animal a Texas dall then on to a axis.
