6.5mm Suppressor for 6.5 CM?

6.5mm Suppressor for 6.5 CM? - 10/31/16 01:06 AM

Thinking about getting a dedicated can for my 6.5 Creedmoor -- wanting a 6.5 mm can. It is currently sharing a TBAC Ultra 7 30 cal. with a couple other guns and I like it a lot. Looking at their 6.5 mm can. Any other recommendations?

Never buy a suppressor smaller than .30 cal.

Unless its for a .22lr.

Same here. My buddy has about a dozen cans but uses his two 30 cal cans almost exclusively. I only have 30 cal and 22 rimfire wouldn't think of getting anything in between.

Buying a 6.5 mm can means it'll run 6.5 mm and smaller, nothing larger. And you'll knock of so little decibels you probably would have to have a meter to tell.

Yes, Sensei. I see your point.

And just to add, some cans have caliber-specific end caps that can greatly improve the performance of a suppressor. I don't think anyone is making a 6.5 endcap at the moment, but I'd be surprised if manufacturers like Silencerco don't start manufacturing them specifically to capture a little more market share among shooters.

If you can afford to have a specialty suppressor why not? I have 2 30s and 1 338 so I went ahead and bought a 6.5 for fun.

They are a little quite but not by much.

I pretty much agree with what JG said on staying with 30 cal. I bought three 30 cal cans before I bought anything else. Then I bought a Specwar 556K just to keep on my little 223 permanently.

However, a friend of mine has a Barricade that is a dedicated 6.5 can. If (big if) I was going to buy a 6.5 can, that would be it.

I actually have the Barricade and like it along with a 223 from SAS but would not recommend an SAS to anyone due to their online shenanigans on the forums.

I know there are caps for the 30 cal SilncerCo Harvestor that are 6.5 mm. You can switch them out. I have 8 30 cal Harvestor(s) riding on 308s, 6.8s and 223. I have 1 223 cap but i am not sure if I could tell you the difference between the 30 cap or the 223 on a 223.

Silencerco Omega has both a 5.56 and a 7.62 end cap. There may be others available now, particularly with the Hybrid handling up to .46.

Hmmm, I was not aware of that. I just knew that when I saw it I was pretty impressed with the mount and the sound of the can.

They've gotten a bad rap on the hide and some shady dealing at shot. Enough that their largest distributor dropped them overnight.

Same here. 30 cal can is the way to go, yes it is a little heavier and longer when I run it on my .223 but I don't care. .22 suppressor are just plain fun.
