I attended Massad Ayoob's Lethal Force Institute in Florida in 2005. Not only did we learn and hone our skills, but he taught us what to expect AFTER a confrontation. And I have to tell you that I do not want to deal with it. Will I use my weapon to defend myself and my family? Absolutely ..... without hesitation and with extreme vigilance. But the fallout from a shooting is a nightmare for sure. You need to know how to keep your mouth shut, how to answer questions, how to respond to the initial LEO contact ........ Whew. It gets really intense just remembering the things that we were told.
That was covered, know who your attorney will be, shut up, ask for your attorney by name, wait two sleep cycles to be interviewed, that was just the beginning. The classroom experience was more important than the skills portion which was also very good.
