Best belt for CCW

Best belt for CCW - 08/25/16 05:04 AM

I already have a brown belt from Amazon. I like it, but it's kinda thick.

Now I'm looking for a black belt to match my black holster. Nobody will (should) ever notice that my belt isn't matching my hoslter.... but I will. Also, I'd like to have a second CCW belt.

I like my bullhide belts, they are thick also, but will last you a long time. Bullhidebelts.com

I wear a 5.11 belt. It's nylon and very stiff. I think it's 1.75 inches tall and has a metal buckle that you loop the belt through. Roughly $50 or so. It supports a Sig P226 with TRL-1 and extended magazine in a FFR holster. I wear it everyday to work for 3 years and it shows no wear.

I have a Ross 1.5" gun belt. It was my first gun belt, and I use it 99% of the time. I have used it with slacks, shorts, and shooting competitions, and it has been very solid. It is a stiff belt, which is what I want. I have bought 2 other 1.5" belts that are not a Ross, and they are too soft and flemsy. They work ok, but are not my Ross belt. I highly recommend the Ross leather belt.

Also, buy it 4" larger than your waist size. Once you get your pistol IWB, that will add at least an inch, plus extra room to have some extra length to tuck the belt into.

I have a Wilderness Instructor and like it a lot. Not that it really applies to me but if u fasten the belt in the most secure arrangement, then the buckle is climbing rated. But I think any of these nylon belts with more than 3 stiches seem to be the most useful to help prevent that sagging.

I have a CrossBreed belt that I've been wearing for about 4 years daily with my XDs in a N82 holster. It's still nice and stiff and in great shape.

Is it typically better to go with a belt that has a stiffener inside? I’m thinking a stiffener (like the one that is optional on the Ross belt) will allow to have a stiff belt without being very thick.

I wear the exact same belt. It's fantastic.

I never liked the metal buckle on the 511 belts. I prefer the plastic buckle on the TDU 511 belts better. The operator belt I own never gets used but the TDU belt gets pulled out constantly. They are lighter and just seem more comfortable for wearing during extended periods. Especially if you have a little bit of a gut. Just my 2 cents.

They are both great for conceal carry.

Highnoon holsters makes some very comfortable and high quality stuff. You can buy a $40 cheapo like me or a $400 beauty that is about as nice as you can get.

I was going to get the much stiffer 511 trainer belt....But after seeing this video I'm having second thoughts (especially because of the Velcro). The cheaper TDU belt seems to be easier to use.

Went to Cabela's and bought the trainer belt. They didn't have the TDU. I do like it so far. It's a little odd that my holster clip is where the velcro is, but I guess it's not a big deal.

I'm also tempted by those Ross belts with the stiffener option. I'll probably get one in a near future.
