Compact Single Action .22 Revolver

I am looking to get a compact (sub 4.5" barrel) single action .22 revolver and wanted to see what people have had and what is available. I would like to be able to have a 22 mag cylinder and a 22 LR cylinder, but that's not a have to. What have y'all had good luck with?

I've got a little birds head "shop keeper" (Bearcat?) made by heritage. It has LR and Mag cylinders.
I love it but they are kinda hard to find.

Ruger Bearcat or Single Six. I'm not sure if the latter comes in any shorter than 4 5/8" barrel.

Ruger Bearcat fits the bill. Only drawback is they don't come with a Mag cylinder. I searched for a few years and found a spare cylinder and reamed it to Mag. Original Bearcats won't work for the conversion because of cylinder length. New Model will work fine for conversion.

Cimarron has the Model P Jr. Black Stallion that has the .22LR and .22MAG cylinders. The barrel length is right at 4 3/4, so may not be fit your criteria, but their revolvers are very well made and would be worth considering.

+1 for the Ruger Bearcat.

Big hands make them look small Shopkeeper would be real handy!

the Ruger Bearcat shopkeeper is a great choice. I often stick mine in my pocket when I go out to feed the Horses.







another good choice would be the adjustable sighted Bearcat or if you really want a 22 mag cylinder then i'd go with a single six. bearcat cylinders can be found and reamed out but it can take some work finding one. not to mention the added expense.

one more option would be to have one or two chambers in a bearcat cylinder reamed out to 22mag while keeping the rest chambered for 22LR.

That is a very interesting idea. Perhaps with the .22 mag chambers marked so that they are easy to recognize at a glance. I am going to look into this.
