Tikka T3x

Tikka T3x - 03/09/16 12:32 PM

I was looking at the Tikka website the other day and noticed the new T3x model, which addresses many of the deficiencies of the T3.

Tikka T3x

They've opened up the ejection port, added a metal bolt shroud, and attachment points for a rail on top.

The synthetic stock has been re-worked, but that is a moot point with me as I greatly prefer walnut.

Something to look forward to. I haven't seen any for sale yet.

How much did the price increase?

I wonder how much more they're going to change for them.

Here's my vote for keeping the price the same, and phasing out the old version.

That CTR looks nice, wish it had the adjustable cheek piece. .260 or 7mm-08?

X2. I like my original T3's though. I'd really like to get my hands on a T3x, just to compare. Not sure about the interchangeable grip area, looks a little hinky.

We'll see.

I need to replace the Sako A7 that I sold recently. My initial attraction is to the stainless laminated version but depends on price as well.

I notice they are not listing .222 Rem or .338 Federal for this rifle. That's a shame.

I'd like to have one in 8mm Mauser.

I've been interested in 8x57 too. They say it is very similar to 30-06, but its a 32 instead of a 30.

I love my old one - did not realize it had any issues as I have never experienced one. I had the laminated stock and stainless barrel but had it dipped in camo - have used it all over the world and still love it

They don't have any issues. It's one of the best factory rifles on the market. He's just a hater.

I've done extensive load development for the 8x57JS, I have several and have to say it's a very interesting cartridge. Similar to the '06, it'll do everything I would need to in the field. I have a few old K98's and 24/47's that I still shoot and one that I hunt with. I just think it'd be interesting to have a good modern rifle chambered in the old Teutonic terror.

The T3 is very popular, and owners give them very good reports.

Nobody has to feel bad about owning a T3 but honestly, given a choice between the T3 and the new T3x, I'd take the T3x.
